Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Gamepad to utilize wifi instead of bluetooth. rumor

This seems good and all (better range and transfer rate), but doesn't Wi-Fi have higher power consumption when compared to bluetooth? Wouldn't it greatly shorten the controller's battery life?

I thought it was a logical assumption that the WiiU tablet will use wireless N or similar tech to handle the bandwitdh/distance?

Would be nice, better specs for anything = always better. What would be even cooler is when you could connect to your WiiU through the internet and you could play wherever you're connected to a hotspot, since it supposidly has WiFi that would just be the next step, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of a handheld.

Wouldn't really care either way though .

I've actually never put any mind into this.

So with thems wi-fi, I can game form my toilet. Nice.

Just don't sit too long on the pot.  You legs will fall asleep and then you will have to lean against a wall for a few mins.

Oh ya, that happens all the time.

I don't imagine that with the WiiU pad will be so heavy as to put a lot of pressure on your legs, though. I dunno, maybe It'll be my arms making me legs go to sleep, I guess.

I gotta test it out with a Gameboy.

(Why did it come to this topic!?)

My legs go to sleep usually just from the position of sitting on the toliet.  If I stay there for over 20-30 mins my legs fall asleep.  I had a rough time when I was playing Advance Wars: Days of Ruin on the toliet.  Price you gotta pay to be entertained while on the toliet I suppose.

I see. As long as I'm not resting anything on my legs I'm good.

This is a... crappy... conversation.

dude just put 'rumor' tag in the headline..less confusion all around

I do that, normally put Rumour tag in front of the title, so it has greater visibility.

If you guys want more information regarding wireless connections, we were discussing this subject on Soundwave's thread yesterday. Just go read just a few post @ http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=146883

I hope it can be hacked into using it as second monitor for PC.

I think we would all prefer an X-ray device hack.

I just realized I don't know shit about wireless technology.

+1

The only thing I know about wireless is that when I changed my adsl to cable, the Co. said that we had to go wireless because they couldn't extend the cable through the house.

My PC got at most 30% of the signal and run internet like sh!t. But on my Wii, which is next to my PC, it worked flawlessly.

If this is true, I hope it works well.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I don't think it would run on Wi-fi, but on some other more optimized tech. Wifi lags of 60 ms (which is about what I get ping time from 1 pc to another over wifi) will be enough to be noticed (at least by controller lag haters like me). Its probably using that 2.4 ghz band, but I don't think it'll be wifi.
