If all quality 3rd party support leaped to the PS360 and it came down to only Nintendo and the shovelware makers then I would say not.

It's not solely a factor of 3rd parties not supporting Nintendo rather 3rd parties supporting systems other than Nintendo.

Well I'm sure they could maintain profit, I'm just not so sure they could sustain the numbers their currently taking. Nintendo games certainly have a feel to them, but if thats all you can get on a console the feel might wear off eventually, the PS3 and 360 would draw a much more diversed crowd.

well not if ninty keeps on making games for the casuals and for the hardcore

But thats whats been happening since the Wii came out.

The Wii had a runaway success with Wii Sports and Nintendo has put out a lot of excellent games for sure with a lot of great games on the horizon however if only Nintendo develops for the Wii successfully and every major non-Nintendo franchise goes to other consoles then it will suffer.

It would be pretty foolish to argue otherwise.

i know but not every major franchise will go to whe ps3/360 and alot of them have appeared on  them and it has had no affect on wii,but i think then it would end in a 3 way draw

Third party support will eventually come just like it happen in the ds third parties are just waiting for nintedo to do all the hard and when the wii have sold 50-6om then they will start making good games.

Sure, Nintendo its on much better shape than 5 years ago or 10 years ago.

Stuff like Wii Fit, Mario kart, brawl are going to sell millions regardless what 3rd party developers do.

Anyway, don't expect 3rd party to quit on the Wii. There will be just too much money to be made. Even the GC got (some) 3rd party support so expect atleast three times better support on Wii.

But as i said earlier, wasn't it Nintendo who pioneered the DS's success the first 2 years of its life? look at the DS now. It seems the Wii seems to be following the DS's success, wii sports is the Nintendogs for the Wii, wii fit is the Brain age of the Wii.

Nintendo has before (N64, GC and DS when it started) and they expect to have to with Wii too. They don't need 3rd parties, but certainly 3rd party support is much perferable.

Think about this.

Imagine it happened.  Imagine that Nintendo did have to almost single-handedly support the Wii with its games.  This would cement the image that "Only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo consoles."  Do you understand how painful that stigma would be not only this generation but in the following ones?  Even with the highest selling console of the bunch, 3rd parties choosing not to support a Nintendo console means that they wouldn't even support it at its best.

This is all hypothetical, but this stigma is a very real possibility that Nintendo very much needs to avoid.

"can Nintendo keep the Wii succesfull without any third Party help. "

At the moment they are able to. The game selection would be a bit one-sided( Mario Kart, Super Mario, Paper Mario, Wario, Mario Party, Mario and Sonic, SSB with Mario, Mario Strikers etc. pp. ) for me but apparently enough people like it to make them the clear sales leader until now.

Well, being that it has already done so well with only 1st party support, why would you think otherwise?

Several of the top selling franchises of all time are on Nintendo. I think of the Wii as less of a console, and more of a Mario/Zelda/Metroid player.

People in the PC world spend $500 and up on video cards to just play a game like Crysis. If you could drop $250 to play every Nintendo Franchise, it’s kind of a no brainer.

P.S. I happen to not like any of the Nintendo games (although SMG looks good), but I do respect what they do for a living. A lot of people seem to love what they produce, and I am happy for Nintendo’s success. They have done great things for the video gaming industry, and it’s good to see them doing well.

I think that they can be successful with just there games but they'll not achieve the same success as the PS2 or DS. I'm not worried though as with the DS third party games didn't sell very well at first and were all very cheap compare to Nintendos games but they eventually catch up. I think that we'll see the same pattern on Wii.
