I don't doubt that the PS4 may be able to support the resolution but no games will use it as their native resolution.

Sony is no longer in the position to use one division as a trojan horse for the benefit of another. They need to be thinking on a point-by-point basis.
If true, this is disconcerting.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
It will no doubt be for BlueRay movies and not for games.

4K is a term used to describe panles with a resolution 4 times higher than Full HD, 3840x2160 pixels.
OT: Casually yesterday I read this news about LG bringing to EU and NA their first 84" 4K TV... which has a price tag equivalent of $22.000
Also, as HappySqurriel said, how many games will be able to run at that res natively? You need a 680/7970 to run games smoothly at 2560x1440, image the power necessary for that kind of res.
Please excuse my bad English.
Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
So what content is 4k? even in the movie industry 4k camera aren't used widely.. there are like 5 hollywood movies shot in 4k.. can't see television stations switching to 4k soon.. heck they just spended a lot of money just to get everyting in 1080p..
Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
I plan to replace my main TV set for the Rio Olympic Games in 2016. I doubt 4K TVs will have a competitive price by then and thus I would probably get something more modest. Also, I am certain most people will be thinking as me. As such, supporting this feature in the PS4 is kind of pointless. Hopefully, it will not elevate the costs steeply to reproduce the fiasco that was the PS3 price at launch.
for movies and it could maybe work for 2d games. i mean, that needs a lot of power but i don't think 1080p 2d games need much more power next gen than this gen so they could make them in that super high res and the console could handle it. it could also work maybe for photo mode in gran turismo and such things but i doubt for a killzone 4 or something.
