Forums - Nintendo - New Rayman Legends screenshots hint at 1080p game resolution

I'll always prefer Mario platformers over Rayman because of the level designs, the precision in the gameplay, etc.

But, damn! Without a doubt, Rayman Legends smokes NSMBU visually. Easily.

Looks really fun, too. Almost certainly a day one buy for me.

I should hope so to. I expect nothing less than 1080p native next gen for all games.

I think you'll be disappointed. 720p with prettier objects and effects is much easier to sell than 1080p with less of the pretty stuff.

^ Is that screenshot actual gameplay or cut scene? Either way it is really nice, but gameplay would be sweet. I like Rayman, I just have not taken the time to play much of it in a while. Still need to get the N64 version.

Rayman Origins was 99% gameplay. Some of it really cinematic with platforming set pieces that fused platforming gameplay with music. Rayman Legends will be similar and I expect in many ways better.

Forget all the older Rayman games and start with Rayman Origins which is one of the best platforming games ever.

Exactly.

People need to understand that with more powerful hardware also comes the temptation by developers to push more intensive graphical performance, which taxes the console considerably.  If we were just destined to keep playing 7th gen-level games next generation, then yeah, we could expect 1080p graphics for everything, but of course that won't be the case.

Remember, native 1080p resolution is over 2 million pixels of rendering; native 720p is just under 1 million.  Expect many 8th gen games of intensive visual fidelity to run at a native 720p on consoles to keep the framerate running smoothly (the way it should be), while those same games will run at 1080p or even higher on PC.

So will it be 1080p with 60 fps?

More than the resolution itself, I'm loving the art style. It's absolutely beautiful.

Rayman Origins is in my opinion the best 2D platformer this gen, so I don't really care if it is 1080p or not, I just can't wait to play it :D

Nintendo and PC gamer

Wow, Rayman has come a long way.

Too true.  I actually thought the 3D games they did with Rayman weren't too bad, but he started in 2D and after this/origins I think it's safe to say he's going to stay there.

Too photorealistic for me. Can you say uncanny valley...anyone?

Call CGI, he likes that type of games.

OT: Rayman origins was one of the best platforms in years, I hope that this game is as good as it was.
