UPDATE:

He has now changed it to, "one of the best selling game consoles of all time".

I guess between the comments on the site and his Twitter account, he caved.

Great, I just put all my money into Microsoft stocks thinking this quarter's sales were going to be astronomical.

Now their stock is going to crash. :(

Lots of media sources are in the back pockets of Microsoft, especially some websites and news media, whom some are willing to stretch truths and some even outright lie and/or fabricate statements.

This is part of Microsoft's agenda, as it learned years ago, that in order to secure good standing, having good PR tell you their product(s) and agendas are good and nonthreatening (in such cases as anti trust issues), that's actually half the battle.  So over the last 10 to 15 yars, Microsoft has invested in "paid hands" in media circles to make what they true, in a perception meets reality paradigm.

Microsoft beats both Sony and Nintendo in the perception is reality front.....no game is even required on MS's end.

Microsoft: "Well we had our best sales year of all time for the 360 in 2011, and we outsold all the other consoles."

Even that is a lie
The PS3 outsold the 360 WORLDWIDE in 2011 - The 360 only shipped more.

There are far to many Microsoft Fanboys outthere who love to make propaganda for them.

Xbox has the fewest amount of fanboys of the big three. Probably due to being a relatively new brand, and because a very large portion 360 owners are former ps2 owners so there is little brand loyalty.

Also there is no way to know for sure if the ps3 outsold the 360. Vgchartz numbers are estimates, and considering if their estimates are even only 3% off the 360 could be the better selling console, it is very possible the 360 was the best selling console last year.

There is no way this guy is serious. The wii has sold more and that is just this gen. There is also the PS1 that outsold it and the PS2 has sold over 140million consoles. That is almost 100 million more than the 360 has sold. That website has officially been on. No the 360 is not undertracked by 100 million. The PS2 is the best selling console of all time. The PS3 has been selling better than the 360 for almost 3 years now. The 360 has shipped about 66million consoles total you can easily look it up. VGchartz is legit businessweek is BS

I disagree with you.  I don't see the Xbox 360 having any fewer fanboys.  Rather, that the fanboys are worse for other consoles is a perception created by most gamers on western websites being Xbox 360 users.

I'll give you an example of what I mean.  At a gaming site I used to frequent, there were two extremely vocal and obvious fanboys.  One was a PS3 fanboy, one was an especially vicious Xbox fanboy.  As a western site, the Xbox fans in general (not fanboys) outnumbered the PS3 fans by a good margin.  The situation that was created by this was that anything the PS3 fanboy said would be attacked by many, many more people.  Most of the Xbox fans would just ignore the Xbox fanboy.  However, if a fanboy war developed, these normal fans would attack anything that the PS3 fanboys said in retaliation to the Xbox fanboy.  In effect, though they'd never admit it, they were ultimately siding with the Xbox fanboy, though in an indirect manner.  Thus we always get this false perception that "the other side" has more and worse fanboys because the majority is able to impose their view as reality.

I also think that how "bad" fanboys are depends on how defensive their situation.  If they feel like they're "losing", then they'll be more aggressive, kind of like a cornered animal.  I came to this conclusion when I was thinking about what I consider the worst fanboys of all time:

Xbox -- "XBOX is more powerful than the ps2, Halo ownz lol"  This was when Xbox fanboys were trying to sway people away from Sony.

PS3 -- "It's WORTH $500"  Yeah, justifications.

Wii -- "IT DOES HAVE GAMES FSDJFLSJD!!11 [posts chart filled with music and sport titles]"  When someone so much as hinted that they might not buy a Wii.

I just don't buy it when someone tells me that one side doesn't have fanboys.  I see them all over the place for ALL the systems.

i knew XBOX 360 was dominating the world.

I believe that people were kidding when they said that...

Of high definition home consoles that is incapable of playing Blu-Ray, sure.

I really dont think this is accurate. Maybe in the united states which for some reason people think this represents the whole world. It does not. The wii is winning this gen. Xbox is 2nd and sony is in 3rd. Not to mention super nes back in the 80's sold a ton of console units. Then you have ps1 and ps2 both by themselves sold a ton of console units. So i think this article is not valid if you look at the hard numbers. Xbox has failed to dominate worldwide in europe and japan there floundering. The united states is where microsofts xbox is dominate and only in the usa.
