A german magazine has spoken with Bernd Fakesch, the german Nintendo-boss, and he dropped some numbers. He said that the 3DS sold 900K units in Germany. Even if he talked about shipped numbers, that's totally off from the numbers here, that are 480K for Germany.

Other data he shared:

XL sold 20K in the "first days" (whatever that means).

9 million DS. (VGChartz = 8.37 million)

Wii has an installed base of 5.2 million. (VGChartz = 4.6 million)

Wii sold 200K this year. (VGChartz = 625K)

All this numbers seem rounded very much and it is unclear if he talks about sold or shipped. But 3DS-numbers are very much off, also VGChartz has way too much sold Wiis for this year (but too less overall). The Wii-discrepance makes somewhat sense, if he talks about shipped, that's why I would assume that.

He also said the 3DS was at 19 million units worldwide, didn't he? That suggests VGChartz has the 3DS undertracked in Germany but overtracked it somewhere else.

I hate to bring up the example again, though, but Sony confirmed God of War 3 had sold 5.2 million copies recently, yet the game is still sitting at 4.43m with no adjustments despite people repeatedly bringing it up.

I love this site for bringing me sales numbers where perhaps there might not be any, but it seems to take forever (or in some cases, not at all) for the numbers to be adjusted when there are official figures.
