I like Pachter. He is an affable guy. He is not mostly right but am sure he is making money for people he provides insight too.

I would not call anoyone who throws insults at other people to be "affable".

Pachter is mostly wrong. Really, he didn't predicted anything right in the last six years, only the obvious things. He is obviously no "insight". And he constantly bashing Nintendo. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he said since 2006 that Wii and DS are a "fad" and that the reality always proves him wrong. :D

On the other hand: Pachter is paid to say some things, because of his popularity in some tabloid publications, and his boss obviously don't want him to say something nice about nintendo.

I am not sure if you fully understand what his job is. It has nothing to do with pleasing people mindset. He provides financial analysis to investors. I think he covers about 10-15 companies and his analysis is not based on if the game is innovative or not but more so whether the company stock is a sound investment. He is an affable guy that is why he is on a lot of shows and covered by lot of gaming websites despite what they might think of his professional opinions or just a fun stab at nintendies. Cheers and don't take it so personally; my opinion and his.

@Oni. There is no definition for fanboy, so it's moot.

Really?? If you say so.

I don't know, you tell me. Do you have an official definition we should work with, or should I just take your word for it, given one that you can come up with?

I just saw the vid...
I was rooted up as a fanboy, so I am offended to some degree. but I digress.

For an analist, he really fumbled big time on choosing poor words...
I mean the cardboard box with "Nintendo" written on it, only buy/accept a gift just for the paper wrapper? Most people would take it like they're a bunch of ol' senile chaps, wether he chose the word fan or fanboy. Patcher could've used another example... it may have come out as a joke, but this is not a stand-up comedy.

For the little respect I have for the guy for his profession, they are dwindling indeed. -_-'
In other words, he just have to choose his words wisely and carefully...

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

I wasnt going to get into it with you, since you are like the only person on this site that denies the existence of the term. A fanboy, as others have already stated; is someone who is a fan of something to the point of irrationality. Fanboy is just a slang term for fanatic. Now if you want, ill use the word fanatic just for you(because it sounds cooler IMO). There is a word you cant deny and both serve the same end, because they are mostly used in a negative connotation anyway.

I never said the term didn't exist, I just said I didn't believe it had a firm definition, but if you have one we can go by then I'll go by it.

By that definition, I'm neither a fanboy nor a fanatic. I just love Nintendo that much that I will buy their product no matter what in most cases. But if their games start really being bad, you can be sure I'll stop buying their consoles. Hasn't happened yet, so Pachter's mistaken since he especially has no evidence to back his claim.

Also, from the definition of a stark fan, with passionate interest in the company, I'm a fanboy. Slice it your way, which one I am is up to you. But I'm not sure the term you offered is necessarily universal. I could be wrong.

I dont think you are a fanboy in the way i think of, not a fanatic. You bought other systems in the past and i rarely if ever see you sling mud at another company; one of the things a fanboy would be known to do. Im talking about the really crazy f***, the ones who have altars, the ones who will back any decision their preferred company makes, even if it turns out to be detrimental to themselves.
