Hay Fella's, after having spent a couple of weeks with the system, i really feel the urge to give away some praise aswell as a lot of criticism, so here i go:
(Conclusion down below, because no one will read all of this)
-the system:
From a hardware perspective, the Vita seems to be well suited for nice looking games + some multitasking, and the OS is running like a charm. nothing to complain about here. (except for a bug that i had once, where the menu didnt want to accept any touch-input anymore. reset fixed it)
Manufacturing:
Seems to be quite nice. The only issue i have with my Vita is that the upper left button (L) is sqeaking occasionally when pushed down too hard, but i've heard that this problem can be fixed by loosening the screw near it a little. (dont have a fitting screwdriver to try it out) and there are a lot less videos on youtube about malfunctioning devices than there is for the 3ds. (tho the 3ds is, of course, sold like ten times as often, so there isnt really any reasoning in comparing both to each other about how often problems appear with the devices as input method.)
Network functionality:
Meh. There are some nice things to be found, the Youtube-App for example is superior to Android-solutions, allowing you to watch Youtube-HD Video's - given the requirement that you have either a good dataplan for your 3G Vita, or a good Wifi Connection at home. (And if you do, using a Computer is obviously smarter than using the vita.) Skype is always nice, as is Facebook - but both too are available to smartphones around the globe, and these are far more portable, and offer the option of (you won't believe it) calling someone, which will make those tiny things mandatory to stay in contact with others while on the go, and therefore you can save taking your vita with you for said app's.
Near too is just meh. while it holds some potential (getting a double EXP voucher for Resistance because some random Vita owner sat on the same train as you did for example), it is made beeing useless due to the fact that you'd actually need to stumble upon other vita owners on the go, which is not a given at any location due to the ammount of sold pieces of Hardware as of now.
Last and least is Remote Play. ever imagined playing your PS3 games on the go by using your Vita? Sounds awesome, right? and you can even turn on your PS3 with your vita, starting remoteplay from... i dont know.... EVERYWHERE, as long as both devices are connected to the internetz! ... only problem is that out of the PS3's whole library, 4 PSN titles and 1 physical title actually support Remote Play....
Even worse is the fact that if youre were a naughty little boy and installed custom firmware onto your devices, you can actually enable ANY game you wont to be played on the go. Sony... u serious?
One good thing though is that you can chat with anyone on your PS3 Friendlist while online, and you can also use remoteplay to stream video's i believe, which is neat since space is limited on both smartphones and the vita.
The Games:
There is quite a lot of software to keep ya going for a couple of weeks!... if you just purchased the system that is. The Games that are out aren't really bad, there's at least 1 Game for every gamer, but that really is about it. i liked Gravity Rush for the 10 hours it lasted, and the next game i'll buy next week will be disgaea, which also looks very promising. on top of that Persona4Golden and Ragnarok Odyssey are just around the corner, coupled with AC3 (when it went down a little in price) there's enough for now to keep me going. but if you aren't into RPG's, you'll have serious trouble finding anything worth playing, and a lot games aren't even scheduled for Europe, which may make things even worse, depending on your location. (I am a european, and i'll import Ragna and Persona, since regionlock isnt a problem. HOWEVER, DLC sure is since your memorycard is bound to 1 PSN Account at a time.. imagine content patches for games that arent out in your region that you've imported nevertheless... you didnt only pay more due to taxes and shipping, you also are locked out of beeing up to date.)

What needs to be done ASAP:
- Remote Play needs to play ALL the Games you have on the PS3.
(which should not be a problem. youre technically still playing your games on the PS3, you just change controller and screen. On top, Modders actually have made it work properly - and they dont do all things vita as a fulltime job or anything, and they sure as hell arent a team of a hundred people working on it)
- There need to be more unique additions to the apps-section in the store. The Vita could use some.
- Mini's are awesome and the equivalent to your everyday's Phonegame, with the same pricetag. But stop fucking calling them mini's, or seperating them from other PSN games. Why? because lining them in with other PSN Games gives users the false impression that the PSN's content went down in price in general, even if it didn't. works for phones. sure would work for vita too.
- There need to be far more (stop-to-call-them-)Mini's that are of good quality. (Impossible game anyone? lovin' it, even more so on the go!)
- tell the people that used games can still reward you trophies if you format the game.
- Get some f'cking games, Sony. yes you had a huge launch line-up, but 99% of today's vita games arent close to being system sellers. Get a Monster Hunter, make sure CoD will be amazing, get a portable Dark Souls spin-off, a FF Type-0 port for Vita, anything that has a name and may cause people to get the goddamn system. because the hardware itself is pretty damn cool and full of potential. (And full of shitty camera's, but oh well)
