Forums - Gaming - Class3 - "Your choices matter, and you must live with the consequences."

Surviving is your main goal in Class3 and the game takes no time stressing that fact to you. As soon as you begin the game you’re dropped into the world after creating a character with one set goal. Surviving. As we’ve told you before you can create your own communities by finding survivors and a home. At these homes you can then upgrade them to make them defensible, add repair shops, grow your own food and make your own supplies and so on.

According to Sanya, “you will die” in the world of Class3 as one simple mistake can cost you and your community their lives. I love the sound of that. If you’ve watched any of AMC’s Walking Dead, you’ve seen these mistakes in action and having a game allow you to make those kinds of mistakes is a huge step forward in the survival genre.

Apparently there’s a hell of a lot of ways to die in the game, as stated by Sanya.

“Odds are, you will die many times and in many ways. Bitten, bloodied, torn in half. Taking a turn too fast in some dead lawyer’s sports car. Sickened, poisoned, heaving and shuddering at the end. Charred and broken, victim of your own ill-timed firebomb. Weak from hunger, struggling to get away, but failing to find the energy to break free.”

During our exclusive interview with Sanya a while back, we also learned that when a character dies, that’s it. They won’t be coming back and you cannot load an earlier save to try and avoid making the same mistake.

Each survivor you find will have their own set of traits and specialties. These specialties can range from being a technician to a lazy bum (if you call that a specialty). Everyone has their own weaknesses as well. Some survivors may be a terrible shot, have trouble with sneaking around, or countless other things. You’ll also need to balance out the survivors you find as well since some don’t get a long too well and may cause problems in your community.  For example, Sanya said that if you add too many alpha male survivors to the group, they may end up butting heads with each other.

The entire game takes place in real time, so while you’re out finding supplies, the survivors you leave behind may not be there when you get back, meaning, they’re dead. If you bring survivors with you they can suffer from being attacked. If that happens you have to make the decision of whether you want to risk your own life to save another. Keep in mind that if you don’t save that survivor, you may lose a very valuable asset to your community.

As stated in the last paragraph, the game takes place in real-time “all the time” according to Sanya. So while you aren’t playing, things will still occur in the game world, but at a much slower pace. Your community will still use materials, food and supplies and crises’ may still happen.  Since the game runs on a 24 hour schedule, your character will need to actually get sleep. At that point you can switch to another character that has more energy. Eating food, taking painkillers, etc… will all restore energy to you character.

Class3 is one of our most anticipated games here at Only Single Player and with PAX just around the corner, we are certainly hoping Undead Labs shows off some gameplay footage of the game, and we know a great many of you are as well. Feel free to follow OnlySP on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with all the latest on Class3.

With the first wave of Zombie games this gen we saw a lot humour and exaggerated violence, most notably in titles like Dead Island, L4D and Dead rising. While they were fun, they were mostly mindless and never explored the genre is any real depth. The next wave, however, led by Class3/4, DAYZ, The Last of Us and The WarZ seems to be going in the opposite direction. They're raw, they're real, and they're brutal. It's about survival, not headshots and kill counts. Personally I love the new route my favourite genre is taking, and I hope these games, more than any, fuffil their expectations and give us amazing experiences.

Posting here. Hmm, what to say.

Wikipedia tells me that this game is being used to fund/publicise the company's MMO. That didn't end too well last time someone attempted this. I hope that isn't the case here.

Game sounds good, no doubt. I hope all zombie-themed games don't go down this route for the next few years though. I'm all for changes for the serious/survival to push the medium forward and I'm glad that TLoU, DayZ and this are doing it. But at the same time - personally - I prefer arcade-y style humorous run and guns. Steam tells me I've put 65 hours into L4D2 and I must have put about 40 into Dead Rising 2 as well.

It's the same problem I have with FPS games. I don't mind the Call of Duty/Battlefield cloning that's rampant in the genre at the moment, but I miss twitch shooters and more arcade-y stuff like Timesplitters. If there were just a few more of them around it would be a good balance.

Anyway, I'll probably buy this if it comes to Steam & turns out good.

Try Tribes: Ascend if you have a pc that can run it well.

So I'm surviving. From what? Aliens? Assassins? Iwata? Zombies? Rabid ponies? Robots? All of the above???
It says zombies in the last paragraph, but that's the only place I saw the word. and it was talking about other games. Other. Zombie. games.

Where did the zombies/aliens/robot-ponies come from? Why can't they just leave me alone? What do they plan on doing if they catch me? What happened to the military? What happened to the President? Is the President a zombie? It that a picture of Times Square? If I die, does that mean I won't come back too? How come the zombies don't kill me while I sleep? Are there any Pro Bass Shops? I might need some guns.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

It won't be able to, but I'll still be trying it.  It's free and all, don't really know why I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Now Shootmania on the other hand, I think my PC would explode trying to run that.  But it looks so good...

edit: Sorry for de-railing your thread :(

This is the kind of game I would love to try, I am all for immersion. ZombiU is also taking this approach, and I'm looking forward to it. That artwork in OP looks awesome.

The picture reminds me of The Last of Us

The gameplay sounds very exciting.

Is this only for PC? When is release approx? Is it third or first person?
