Exactly. Took me a while to realize it, but if you're going to blow a significant amount of cash, in this day and age a gaming PC is a great investment! |
The only problem is 70% of the games I like to play are 1st party games. Sure, the PC is nice to have to push the limits here and there, but I don't want the majority of my gaming sacrificed. This gen was great, both the PS3 and the 360 were pushing the limits, and have been a joy to own.
I am not asking that all three consoles push the limit, but I would like to see at least one player shoot for a platinum experiance. Like I'e said before, if we end up with three colnes, whats the point in competition. All that achives is a waste of resouces for third parties to develope the exact same experince multiple times.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Looks amazing, but is gameplay and AI aren't a generation better than Crysis 2 it will be absolute dog shit to play.

Waste of resources? More like it makes it easier for third parties to develop for all platforms and make development times a bit shorter.
Maybe with less time tweaking graphics they'll get more time to put towards gameplay mechanics, but graphics are obviously what you really care about anyways, that doesn't matter.
There are many, many ways they can differentiate themselves and compete. The only option isn't to make an expensive console, that runs hot and sounds like a jet engine. The gaming industry isn't a competition on best graphics.

It's not just about graphics. It is about expanding the capabilities of the consoles, to increse the posibilities of more interactive gaming. More power means the abilitiy to increase control methods, which will expand gameplay. Think about twin cameras, gathering and processing data more complexe than Kinect at a speed capable of one to one motion with lag equal to current controlers. Think about that kind of tech combine with a control device like move for deeply complexe controls. Then add of 1080P 30FPS per eye 3d to add even more emersion.
This is what I am talking about. I doubt we will see next gen reaching the level were people have 3 3d tvs, for a panoramic view, but that is no reason to give up on consoles, as a plug and play way to get a computer (like) experiance on the TV. Sure I can and do already have that sort of experiance with my PC, and will continue to upgrade that, but I don't want to see consoles, hold gaming back to a cookie cutter format.
With that, I will go back to the topic and leave the that rest.
This trailer, does not show me anything more than a polished up version of what the PS3/360 are doing. The draw distance is horrid, the trees look 2d, and the lod is eye racking. Sure when they zoom in right on top of the foliage it looks great, but so did Uncharted, and so did Crysis nearly 6 years ago. We ask for more immersive gameplay and new exiting ways to interact, this looks like neither. It is just another lifeless 3d set peice, with no depth. Until the world the games take place in begins to live and breath, gameplay will never expand. It will continue to be just another prescripted move with no variables, and complete lack of life.

Just watched it in 1080p on my plasma TV. Absolutely gorgeous.

yeah that's what i did! everything else than watching 1080p tech demos or other videos with ultra settings in 1080p makes no sense. and even then they lose some quality on youtube.

Seriously? The lighting and particle effects alone had me excited and thinking of the possibilities for having truly dynamic shadow based stealth mechanics. And with improved physics come even more possibilities if the developers are willing to invest in it. This is a step in the right direction, it just needs the right developers to make use of the tech.
Also, I think you need to relook at the foliage in Uncharted and the original Crysis. It's completely different to what's shown here.
