Im not buying it, not because i dont think EA wouldnt do something like this, but why JUST Nintendo? Why not, Sony and MS?? Why werent they approached about Origin? If it is by some chance true, then good on Ninty, this would have been a crap deal that would have gained them little is anything at all.

you do know about their previous dealings with Sega, right?

enlighten me, but im still not buying it. Its a rumor, it'll wait for confirmation. But if some people want to be conspiracy theorist, then go for it.

When discussing development for the Dreamcast, EA demanded that their sports games would be the only sports games on the system (instead of Sega Sports' 2K Sports label), which Sega said no to, so EA just refused to develop for the platform altogether. It was part of what helped give PS2 the advantage it had coming in, though by no means was the biggest factor going against the Dreamcast at the time.

yeah, that rings a bell that does suck. Im not saying EA wouldnt do something like this, but some of the things dont add up, for reasons people have already stated.

And it's a silly opinion dude :P

Why are almost all sport games stupid?

I find them boring. A lot of them are just running back and forth using the analog stick, there's nothing fun about them really.

It's not silly, it's an opinion.

"There's nothing fun about them" yet millions of players literally put hundreds of hours into them? C'mon man... It's a silly opinion. The point is lot of EA games are very successful, both critically and commercially. You can find them boring, but to objectively say they all suck, while they sell millions and are highly praised by critics and millions of consumers is just spastic.

I don't get why people have to put the games they publish down all the time BECAUSE they're EA games, get over it, it's childish.

If, as you said to Kresnik, you're just stating you opinion, why? What does your opinion have to do with me objectively determining the quality of EA games based on sales figures and critic scores?

It makes me think you have the attitude oniyide described, and it sure seems like it looking at some of your criticisms. "sports games are plain stupid" "it's just running back and forth using the analog stick" you're acting like a... 13 year old... hm.

Lol, APM, you're being ridiculous.

I guess people aren't allowed to have opinions in your book? Or people aren't allowed to hate things in your book?

I don't like them. I don't care if they sell millions. Just like you don't like certain games. And just like you don't care if certain games (that you don't like) sell millions or not, you just do not like them.

But why are you posting that here?  That's all I was getting at.

I don't mind you having an opinion.  I assume APM doesn't either.  But in a thread which decended into whether or not EA games would be important to a Nintendo system, it just seems like a bit of an irrelevant point to say "Only two of their franchises impress me".

It would be like me going into a thread about the sales of 2D Mario and saying "Well I don't enjoy those games anyway".  That's all well and good, but it's not really adding anything to the discussion and my one person's lack of interest isn't going to make the blindest bit of difference to it's success, because clearly the popular opinion is that they're great.

Idk, I'm not having a go or anything.  Just seemed like an odd thing to post really.

To quote Shawshank, "How can you be so obtuse?"

Where have I said people can't have an opinion?

I'll spell some shit out for you. "The point is lot of EA games are very successful, both critically and commercially." This is NOT my opinion, this is an objective observation. This isn't me raving about EA games, this is me pointing out why it's dumb to say "EA games suck."  Do you understand why your opinion on EA games is irrelevant here? If not, refer to the Shawshank quote.

Actually, I already DID spell it out for you! "What does your opinion have to do with me objectively determining the quality of EA games based on sales figures and critic scores? "

GODDAMNIT PIE

to add that to the discussion between pie, apm and others. if people like the games or not, but ea is maybe the most important game developer on this planet making games for almost every platform with some of the biggest and yes also best franchises. if people like those games or not is absolutely irrelevant if it comes to the importance of their games.

i love fifa games like millions of europeans do. football (called soccer in some countries) is the biggest sport on this planet with huge gap to the second most important (whatever this is) and they have the best or second best game for that. maybe it is boring for some, but that is nothing more than personal unimportant taste (for this discussion) because all apm did was quoting someone who said ea games suck, he didn't say they suck in his opinion (which i could still not understand because even if you don't like very good games shouldn't stop you to understand that they are still high quality games in their genre)

I say Nintendo should bar EA from making releases on their system and that people should boycott their products until they demonstrate the product is top quality.

Because we all know how well no support from EA worked out for the last mainstream system without FIFA/Madden ;)

That said, Dreamcast did end up starting off the 2K sports series as a high quality alternative. Sadly in Europe at least they never got a truly serious FIFA rival though.

Due to the exclusive licenses that EA has now, that can't happen.  They are contractually obligated to put the games on all the major consoles.

So these are our options:

1) This rumor is true and that's why EA makes crappy games. They are an evil corporation.
2) This rumor is false and EA makes crappy games, because they feel like it. They are an evil corporation.

Personally, I find option 2 more despicable, so I will believe that option 1 is true to keep my faith in humanity.

I agree completely.

BOYCOTT EA ON NINTENDO CONSOLES! Spread the word.

While I take this as a rumor, but you gotta admit this is not uncommon in bussiness practices. It's totaly legit, but not ethical... ever heard of hostile take-overs? XP
