Who will win the Super Bowl? Part II

Denver Broncos 24 18.75%

New England Patriots 14 10.94%

Houston Texans 1 0.78%

Baltimore Ravens 29 22.66%

Glasgow Rangers 3 2.34%

Atlanta Falcons 4 3.13%

San Francisco 49ers 29 22.66%

Green Bay Packers 4 3.13%

Seattle Seahawks 6 4.69%

I am a wuss, but I want to see the results. 12 9.38%

Total:126

Anyway, I am going to root for the Ravens in the Super Bowl. I am going to be sick if a team that couldn't beat my Rams in two tries wins it all.

Also, I don't really want to see a quarterback with 7 regular season starts win a championship. It doesn't seem right.

Here's how the NFL works. The top team from each division and two wildcard teams from each make it. Then a new season starts. The teams that play the best during that season which consists of knockout games advance. That means that the teams that play the best against the best teams at the right time get to the Superbowl. Also, the Wildcard wasn't even implemented until the early 80's so I could play the what if game and ask what if we were playing back then? That's right. The Seahawks wouldn't have even made the playoffs. Not to mention that there were only six divisions and the Seahawks were in the AFC.

Oh... and I met Bo Jackson once when he was playing for the Kansas City Royals and he was such a jerk that he wouldn't even sign an autograph for his nephew after the game claiming that he couldn't just give it to him because it was worth too much money. I know that it was his nephew because the kid kept going "Uncle Bo! Uncle Bo!" True story. The guy runnnig right over Brian Bosworth was a very memorable play though. Great athlete who's NFL career was cut short by a hip injury. Also a big jerk. He wasn't a class act or as good of a player as Water Payton or Barry Sanders. Adrian Peterson is a fair comparison, but I don't think that Adrian's an ass. Just a Viking.

There is no way Akers could have won the first game against the Ram because the Rams would have won that easily in overtime if they had a better kicker.  Also last years Packers shot themselves in the the foot by going into shotdown mode before the season was over.

The Rams have one of the best young kickers in the league.

Apearently not or the would have easily won the first game against the 49ers.

Come on Adrian Peterson is miles better then Bo Jackson as a matter of fact he is miles better then any other current running back.

Can somebody tell me more about Bo Jackson? What made him so good that he was worth mentioning in this thread in the first place?

He was a running back with the Raiders who was a top-tier athlete in two sports, baseball and football. He much preferred baseball, though (he was a likely Hall of Famer before his injury). He was the first overall pick, but since that team refused to let him play baseball he never signed with them, and only played in the NFL after Al Davis decided to let him finish each baseball season before joining the Raiders squad. Effectively, this meant he only played about half the season, and was by necessity the team's second running back behind Marcus Allen. He still got paid like a full-time starting RB, though, which was fair since he outperformed several of them.

Dude was wicked fast, and unfairly powerful to boot. Of course, he thought of football as a mere hobby. It's not a perfect comparison, but think of him as Adrian Peterson if AP only started thinking about football in November, and openly told everyone he was only here because his real job is seasonal. As for why we're mentioning him, it's a combination of someone placing him on the wrong California team, and it being a very slow news day.

I see, so he was a pretty amazing athlete, if he could reach almost 1,000 rush yards in only half a season.

I don't see the original mention as placing him on the wrong California team, because the statement was along of the lines of: "If two old 49ers stars were back in their prime and if you put one of the best RBs in NFL history also on the 49ers team, then they would likely win one Super Bowl after another." - An extreme example of what-ifs, because the entire argument centered around "if, if, if".

950 yards in 11 games still didn't lead the leauge in yards per game.  4th best and that was his best season.

But you still agree... If the 49ers had Peyton Manning, Andrian Peterson, and Calvin Johnson and they stay healthy they would win the super bowl every year... right?

They  could only play together in Division 1 College Football since it doesn't have a salary cap and players don't get paid ( not officially anyway) and even then it only would be for three years since most very talented players declare for the draft after their Junior year.  As a matter of fact Divison 1 college Football is the only US sport where the best team wins the national title on a consistent basis even without having a playoff system.

I never thought Bo Jackson was all that great. I think a lot of the hype around him was because he played two sports. I suppose one could make the comparison as far as athletic ability but as far as football goes, I think Purple Jesus takes a shit on Bo Jackson.

You still don't get it... What if salary cap didn't exist? or what if the players didn't want money because they had enough already so they took peanuts instead.

The best two sports athlete in recent history is still Deon Sanders.  If AP doesn't get the MVP award on Saturday February 2nd its going to be one of the biggest snubs ever.

Yeah, I would give that Deion, especially in football. His name is synonomous with "lock down corner" and brought up in greatest of all time convos. Bo's is not. I'm not hating on Bo though, I recognize he was an amazing and rare athlete. I just never felt the hype when all that "Bo Knows" bullshit was going on back in the day. And I surely don't feel like he can compete with Peterson when it comes to football.
