People were saying Nintendo doesn't do two game pack-ins, and they had. They did it with Super Mario Bros. in the past.

Super Mario Bros is hugely popular with both "core" and "casual" gamers, and as far as games that can be bundled with a system few would be seen as being as large of a value to as many gamers as Super Mario Bros U; this would certainly minimize people's complaints about a price increase of the console to $349. At the same time, I don't think Nintendoland has amazing appeal but most people would see it as a nice bonus when buying the tablet, and it would certainly minimize people's complaints about paying $100 for a controller. There would be an opportunity cost of bundling Super Mario Bros. U, after all Nintendo would lose all potential revenues from selling it on its own, but it could also contribute to a significant increase in console sales; and the licensing fees and other game sales of systems that would otherwise not be bought could compensate for the loss of sales. |
The reasoning above is why I see Nintendo putting Super Mario Bros. U with the system. Idea is to get a foothold on the market with the new console, and get it a big enough lead. Nintendo would look to do this. Also, Super Mario Bros. U, to me looks like Sumper Mario Bros. Wii reworked. It doesn't look like a totally new effort, just a reworking. Nintendoland looks like a thrown in game to get people used to the controller also.
I don't see how it would be a good business move to do that when the game will probably sell 10 million in 2 years, and over ~18 million in 5.
Although, from a consumer POV, I will admit that it would be awesome if they did.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I never said they didn't. Though, Super Mario Bros./Duckhunt was a single game. I got it with my NES and I believe I still have it at my father's house.
I honestly don't remember them doing a 2 game packin either now that you bring it up.
I don't see NSMB U at launch either, but it'll be a strategic minor delay, nothing major.
Like Wii U launches Nov. 11th in the US and then NSMB U launches Nov. 25th in time for the Black Friday rush. Something like that. Give other games a chance to grab some sales, Mario is something that will sell for years so no need to make things harder for third parties than they already are.
Really, now that you add Madden NFL 13 and FIFA 13 to the launch day, and perhaps Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 as well and perhaps other titles that we haven't had confirmed yet either (007 Legends has been rumoured and would make sense. We could be looking at:
Nintendo Land
Pikmin 3
Zombi U
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Assassin's Creed 3
Rayman Legends
Madden NFL 13
FIFA 13
NBA 2K13
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
007 Legends
Just Dance 4
Mass Effect 3
Ninja Gaiden 3
Batman: Arkham City
Even if some of these are old games, a lot of them are not and two of them (AC3 and BLOPS2) are the biggest 3rd party releases of the year. This is not even counting content from Japanese developers that might make launch, basically TTT2 is the only game along with that Tanks! game that we know of but there's almost definitely more Japanese stuff coming too.

When the NES launched it came packaged with Gyromite and Duck Hunt (two separate cartridges) with two controllers, the Zapper gun for Duck Hunt and R.O.B. the robot for Gyromite. There was also a bundle that just came with Super Mario Bros and two controllers, but that was back before Mario had proven itself to be a sales juggernaut. Today, I don't see them bundling Mario with the WiiU at launch... it's just unnecessary when the game will sell so strongly on its own.

Super Mario Bros. and Duckhunt existed as separate carts at one time. They were put together as one. Recently, Nintendo packaged Wii Sports and Super Mario Wii with Wii units they sold.

I know they existed as seperate carts at one time. I'm talking about the packed in version.

I would love to "Like" this - however, there is no "Like"-button on this site, so I'm forced to make a reply and state that I support this view whole heartedly.
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
