Forums - Nintendo - Iwata: Nintendo's basic strategy is to expand the gaming population and make people smile

Nintendo is such a sweet-heart company. They try their very hardest to make it impossible to hate them. :P

I look forward to playing Luigi's Mansion 2, for sure!

There is no question Nintendo does a great job putting smiles on faces, but I fail to see how 3DS or WiiU will expand the market. WiiFit U is the third in the series and in a genre that's now long past it's prime. That's not expanding the audience.

And I am pretty happy that they are making the Mario game more challenging. That puts smile on my face.

It's things like this that make Nintendo feel like such a friendly company, even if they're likely just as much about the money as the others :p

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata outlined Nintendo's strategy in a personal message delivered in Nintendo's annual report. Once again, Nintendo's aim for the future is to expand the gaming population across the globe.

However, Iwata also said that Nintendo wants to surprise people and put smiles on the faces of everyone who plays a Nintendo game.

"Our basic strategy is the expansion of the gaming population, which is to encourage as many people in the world as possible, regardless of age, gender or gaming experience, to embrace and enjoy playing video games," wrote Iwata.

This shouldn't come as a surprise as this has been Nintendo's goal since they launched Nintendo DS and followed it up with games such as Nintendogs and Brain Training. It seems things haven't changed with titles such as Wii Fit U being promised alongside Pikmin 3 during the Wii U launch window.

Yet expanding the gaming population isn't Nintendo's sole aim. Of course the company want to make money but Iwata also aims to make games that put a smile on Nintendo fan's faces.

"We will strive to expand our business and to improve profitability by providing fascinating games and services," added Iwata. "We continue to make brand-new and unique proposals, and make efforts for the growth of the home entertainment industry with a mission that is to pleasantly surprise people and put smiles on the faces of everyone Nintendo touches."

Bless...

Well if Luigi's Mansion 2 doesn't put a smile on your face, there's something wrong with you.

They can't lose, whether they give fans what they want, or give haters bad financials. Go them!

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I think that was pretty much always their strategy.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

From 10 months old to 100 years old and everywhere in between:

Enough with the corporate romance, nintendo can do their own PR... they don't need you lol (more games less failPR)

And this is why I love Nintendo. No matter what game I play, if it's from Nintendo, it never fails to make me smile.
