Nintendo President Satoru Iwata outlined Nintendo's strategy in a personal message delivered in Nintendo's annual report. Once again, Nintendo's aim for the future is to expand the gaming population across the globe.

However, Iwata also said that Nintendo wants to surprise people and put smiles on the faces of everyone who plays a Nintendo game.

"Our basic strategy is the expansion of the gaming population, which is to encourage as many people in the world as possible, regardless of age, gender or gaming experience, to embrace and enjoy playing video games," wrote Iwata.

This shouldn't come as a surprise as this has been Nintendo's goal since they launched Nintendo DS and followed it up with games such as Nintendogs and Brain Training. It seems things haven't changed with titles such as Wii Fit U being promised alongside Pikmin 3 during the Wii U launch window.

Yet expanding the gaming population isn't Nintendo's sole aim. Of course the company want to make money but Iwata also aims to make games that put a smile on Nintendo fan's faces.

"We will strive to expand our business and to improve profitability by providing fascinating games and services," added Iwata. "We continue to make brand-new and unique proposals, and make efforts for the growth of the home entertainment industry with a mission that is to pleasantly surprise people and put smiles on the faces of everyone Nintendo touches."

Bless...

Well if Luigi's Mansion 2 doesn't put a smile on your face, there's something wrong with you.
