Forums - Nintendo - Wii not even in stock anymore at multiple online retailers

Will Wii hold it out until WiiU comes out?

yes 75 66.37%

no 38 33.63%

Total:113

They are flushing out the chains to create demand for what wasn't there.
This happens when the system doesn't sell much and they can stop production for awhile, then go back to production once stores become out of stock.

They did this with DSI, DSI XL and even the regular DS. They will probably eventually do this with the 3DS as well.

Seen this before.

It's just that simple.

Weird. Why?

2 possibilities: it sells like hot cakes or there is no demand.

I'll take the rational possibility #2 for the win.  It would seem that the Wii is going to have the fastest up and down of any console ever.  It skyrocketed immediately and looked to potentially break every sales record ever... then 3 years went by and it jumped off a hypothetical cliff.  It may barely pass 100 million units, but that'll be all she wrote.

*Edit*

OK, turns out that all 4 online retailers that were listed in this "article" all have new consoles ready for ship.  Well, this thread was a waste...

you all were Turkished xD

One can easily see little to no motivation or even dedication from third parties, but who would've thought it ultimately was Nintendo that caused Wii's untimely demise.

The Wii started it's death crawl when the casuals bought iphones and ipads. Which is why the Wii-U will finished third this gen like the Gamecube before it.

Uuuuh no. I havent questionned the fact that they are back in stock now. I just brought you the fact that they were out of stock at the time I made this thread. You have no right to say my thread has no point. It definetly did have a point at the time. What is your problem?

I don't see the value in a thread that only maintains a 10-hour window of accuracy from the time of posting, but maybe that's just me.

The Gamecube was last to release during it's generation and never had the chance to capture any of PS2's thunder.  While releasing first doesn't guarrantee success (Sega Saturn), I think it gives Wii U the chance to succeed that Gamecube never had.

It's a sign that the apocalypse is coming.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
