woah olympic commitee or however they call themeselve should really use a point systemt at next olympics if you see the medal table and how stupid some positions are. i know i said it already few days before but still:
place 9: north korea 4x gold 1x bronze
place 10: russia with 3x gold 16 silver and 13x bronze
allright^^
and if you look at the 11 most successful athletes these olympics (all swimmers) they should also seriously think about a change for the swimmers and cut a discipline or two.. i know usa and maybe australia wouldn't like that but i think it is way too "overpowered". almost 2x as much disciplines than cycling and even more than all run disiplines in athletics (a discipline everyone on this planet is doing more or less). and that is something most countries just can't be good at, as example how should africans train that without money for swimstadium?

Really not sure why people are struggling with this. A gold is worth more than silver which is worth more than bronze. Counting by tally belittles the golds achieved.
If you want to be higher up the tables, earn more golds, it really is that simple.
But I agree, some sports give out way too many medals why some hardly give out any.
Robson and Murray are now losing their match, 3-0 down on the final set

yes a gold is more worth than one or maybe even three silver but a nation earning 2 gold isn't better than a nation earning one gold and 20 silver so 20 silver should be more worth than one gold. it is against every logic to say a country with one more gold but 30 less medals was better at the olympics and deserves to have a better place. no one would come to the idea to say an athlete who won 15 silver medals in his carreer was not as good as someone who won one gold. with that medal count they hugely discredit the second and third place because it's worth almost nothing for a country looking at the medal count.
at least they could use two counts like some newspapers already do and everyone can pic which he likes more^^
