I disagree. I think the story in the Lion King is really strong (it's heavily inspired by Hamlet). Scar is a wonderful antagonist, he's an evil bastard but you can understand his motivations (living in the shadow of his brother all his life, his hopes being king one day crushed by the arrival of Simba). Timon and Pumba bring comic relief to a pretty dramatic story plus there's a monkey doing kung fu you can't go wrong with that!

Lion King is awesome, but i prefer Tarzan

i prefer Tarzan music as well, Phil Collins is epic

Phil collins was straight up awesome.

i'm not a phil collins fan to begin with but the real issue is tarzan's music was mostly background soundtrack with an occasional montage scene.  in aladin, beauty and the beast, lion king, jungle book, what-have-you the music was integrated into the story, into the characters.  the disney classics are muscals at heart and tarzan wasn't.  

i can appreciate wanting to try something different or innovate or whatever.  i didn't like it.
