Forums - Sales - Will Xenoblade (and other acclaimed Wii games) sell well into the Wii U's life?

I wonder if the is any word on if the games will be upscaled at all kinda like the Dolphin emu does?.

I recall Reggie stating in an interview with Geoff K. during e3 2011 that the Wii-U wouldn't upscale Wii game.

Though if they offer digital Wii games to download then I would imagine that they would upscale to 1080p due to the fact that all Virtual Console games on the Wii can upscale to 480p.

I'm an advocate for motion controls, Nintendo, and Kicking freaking Toad to the Moon!

Only time will tell. There's not a lot of people who want to buy a WiiU for some Wii games.

All I know is, The Last Story will be flop immensely when it comes to the West. The WiiU release will crush it. Ironically it'll be the last big game released on Wii for North America.

why would you think Last Story would flop?? its coming out a few months before Wii U even hits.

Xenoblade is still selling around 5k a week, and is selling pretty damn well in Europe. It's currently sold around half of what it sold in the entirety of last year here, so it has a chance of outselling it for the year.

Those are some pretty decent legs, and I expect it to show the same in America. I reckon it could hit 1million, given time, a damn good thing for such a niche game.

And why would TLS flop? It's got 4 weeks left, and the pre-orders are currently around the same as what Xenoblade was achieving, maybe slightly lower.

But everyone, and I mean everyone, who either has a Wii or like JRPG's should get this game. If you're reading this and haven't got this game, why? Go out and get it, now!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Probably no. There is a loud group on the internet that say they will support these games (and claim that they are what gamers really want) but will ultimately just not buy them. TLS probably wont even get a second print in the US and unless the games are published by nintendo, they are most likely not going to get more prints once the Wii U is on the market. I would say that around 9 months after the Wii U is launched, you will see the LTD sales for 99.9% of all the software on the Wii. Nintendo fans are already saving up just to buy the Wii U. I think they would want to play games made for it.

don't waste time

I don't get the "TLS will flop" thing either.
It's didn't great in Europe, but Xenoblade sold a lot more in the US than in Europe, and TLS should follow the same pattern.

I asked around the site, and people seem to think Xenoblade is Better than the Last Story, and I planned on getting one of them since they are both good titles and Nintendo graciously decided to let America play them, I will probably get Xenoblade before the end of the year to play on my Wii, and I plan to play Skyward Sword soon as well. I just have so many games it's hard to play all the ones that I want to.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Some Wii games will continue to sell well. Xenoblade will not be one of them. Games like DKCR, Brawl, Mario, Kirby, and Zelda could do decently (though to varying degrees). If Nintendo dropped Xenoblade to $30 and pushed it as a Nintendo Selects title this Holiday, it could get a nice boost, but it would probably still be overshadowed by all of the big releases.

I would definitely buy Xenoblade if it was $30, I'd probably even get it if it was 40 dollars.

Xenoblade was definitely a surprisingly extremely well-made game, and this is all I had been hoping to see more of (and Monster Hunter) for Wii. I am sure those who opted out of the Wii and decided to purchase Wii U would want to experience it as well. I am looking for more of these kinds of games with high production value for Wii U.

No one knows lol, but one things for sure I still need to play Xenoblade and Skyward Sword (of which I'm getting next week)
