Not even a question. 3DS will easily exceed 18 mil this year, probably 20 mil. PS3 has never hit 15 mil in a year, and I doubt that's about to change.

But it seems kind of unfair to compare a home console to the sales monstrosity that is a Nintendo handheld console. PS3 will take the home console crown this year, and it will experience decent sales across 10 years while 3DS will have amazing sales for 5-7. They may wind up very close in the long run, not unlike the PS2-DS gap.

Read the entire thread and you will discover that everyone who mentions the PS3 as a runner up is actually a ps3 fanboy. Apparently since the thread only asked for the winner, any mention of the runner up is simply a fanboyish attempt at making the console seem relevant.

Last year, in any given week during holidays, the 3DS was outselling PS3 by about 50%. In August, PS3 had a cut to $250 and 3DS a huge cut to $169.

This year, there is no price cut for 3DS and there is a huge price cut to $179 for PS3. Both have remodels, 3DS also has Mario.

So the question is whether the PS3 remodel/ huge cut can erase that 50% advantage, considering 3DS has a remodel/Mario. I personally think PS3's remodel will have a bigger impact and this 2D Mario seems to be having less preorders and hype going for it.

The PS3 cut and casual games may also make the console more of a holiday console. So I'm pretty sure the gap will shrink precentage wise. However, I think a 50% gap is too much to completely erase. So they'll be closer, but 3DS will still win.

By the way, there's nothing obvious about asking for a winner and expecting losers to be named. Sounds like you made more than enough mistakes in the OP like not specifically stating HANDHELD Consoles.

It's obvious that people can do whatever they please as long as they keep it civil. Yours is the biggest overreaction in the history of this site, I don't understand what hurts you so much when people just state in what order they believe consoles will sell. They're just giving their general opinion and you're absolutely wrong if you think they are Sony fanboys just because of that. I don't know what you're thinking, honestly I'm baffled.

 

And it's obvious that I was including handhelds and even those who said 3DS isn't one know what I meant, they just made the silly comment. Even you called it handheld console. But this is really just a silly argument and 100% of people know what I meant, at least after their comment they were done and didn't try to continue a pointless debate that is obviously not the focus of this thread at all.

Someone's upset I see? Talk about overreacting. I stated a fact so cry me a river, what I'm saying is true, the only people naming the ps3 are the fans, the ones that aren't naming the Ps3 are also the ones that could careless about it. Look at the poll, its not even leading now without any kind of system seller but an made up price cut and an unconfirmed remodel.
