Well, that solves my original problem of removing pavement waste, since you can't spit mints onto the ground. Sounds like a win to me (except I guess that takes out any benefit it may have to the economy, but still)

The still is a big part, because you pitched this as solving the issues with the economy.  Ok, you may of solved issues with pavement waste, but not the economy.  Usually mints are eaten by people.  Gum isn't suitable to be swallowed so it is spit out.

Is the idea to get people to stop using it?  Tax gum like crazy and you drive people out of it.  Unlike cigarettes, there isn't an addiction factor.  And even with cigarettes, the market engineered electric varieties which are based on water vapor and ended up getting around the taxes.  Pretty much they are water vapor, nicotine and flavoring, in an atomizer which ends up turning the water in the unit into vapor.

As for a ban on currency and capitalism, do you have an answer for managing the delay in the exchange in goods and services, and also ways to address issues with common areas being overrun by bad behavior?  You also don't have a mechanism for giving people an idea on what to produce.

Hopefully gene therapy and genetic tailoring will free humans once and for all of alpha male instincts, so no worries of economic or politic gorillas like we have today

Seriously, do you really think we have reached the apex of economical, political and social advancement? If anything the last century proved we are economically, politically and socially stupid... chances are a 3000 AD individual, be it artificial intelligence, transhuman or uplifted animal, will look at today's USA and think of it the same we do of the Assyrian Empire. 

The future holds either business as usual or life. Think George W. Bush with nano warfare at his disposal. These two simply aren't compatible.

The solution is to fix employment and unions somehow.
I was thinking the other day, ehat if there was some farm or like some land levelling group that hired help on the spot. Pay people in cash with the employer fronting their taxes and just pay money to level or pick or even areas out. Have your own good venders there and provide housing for a cost.
No crazy gimmicks or working people to the bone. Just money for services rendered.
