In defense of the movie, Ra's Al Ghul never did anything a regular person couldn't do.  His superhuman stuff was wisely omitted.  I think they'll leave some of Bane's stuff out, too.  It's all about using what works for the movie and leaving out what only works in comics (and cartoons and video games).  Schumacher had no idea what crossing the line was.  I think Nolan had a good grasp on things.

That is true, but then why have him be immortal at all? They could have kept the premise but brought it more in line with the feel of the movie, merely having Liam Neeson's character be the "heir" of the legacy of the League of Shadows, rather than the immortal R'as himself.

Of course, the first movie felt less realistic than the second for other reasons. The Narrows, for one, as well as the general look and feel of Gotham. One could argue that such is a better thing (that a comic-book film could stand to feel less real), but after how well TDK worked out, it comes up short.

After watching the Batman Marathon (All 3 movies), I enjoyed the first two movies more than I had the first time I watched them



 Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
