Forums - Gaming - Yep after seeing my friends Steam summer sale account, I am switching to PC next gen for sure.

Yep, I am definitely buckling down now. I am through spending huge amounts of money on games when if I wait 3-5 months I can get games on a summer sale for 3-5 dollars.  Definitely I will be sticking with Sony next gen, but that Steam sale just rules all. I just watched my dormmate pull out $110 and purchase twenty-nine games and not shitty ones either. At the most on a console that would get me like, what....8-10 games at Gamestop if Im lucky. As a console gamer I am starting to realize we pay too damn much and we finish these games too quickly. Steam satisfies the hunger with jaw dropping prices. Take this as an example, I paid over two hundred dollars on the Assassins Creed series and another one of my friends with Steam got the whole franchise and got the Witcher 2 for only ten dollars more than I paid for the one Witcher 2 game on the 360. Yes, I understand that if I bought the Assassins Creed franchise today it would be cheaper, but I would be paying upwards $80-100 just to get it on a console. Yep, I think it's time I stopped fighting and joined the darkside. It's amazing that the superior experience is cheaper than the inferior one. What a backwards world we live in, eh? I will still be getting a PS4 next gen, but with all the money I would be saving, now I think I can maintain a PC with all those Steam sales. I've just opened a steam account, so welcome me with open arms my PC brethren!

Why not do both? I game mostly on consoles but when something comes along on steam/in a steam sale that I want I buy it.

There's not enough JRPG's and platformers on steam for my liking so I wouldn't make it my main platform, but it's certainly a great place to game on. Lots of amazing shooters/adventure/indie games to keep you occupied.

I am, I am getting a PS4 next gen, but I am buying a PC for the majority of my gaming. Most of the multiplats will be on it which range from various genres, then theres the indy titles and more. I'll get the Sony exclusives  and games I can't get on PC, but I've about had it. Making that switch will save me thousands on dollars in one generation with the Steam sales. Seeing the sales PC gamers get when console gamers pay so much for the same shit is depressing.

Getting a good gaming PC (desktop) is probably going to be the best thing you'll ever do as a gamer, it will pay off in a long run, i've been doing it for years, and I do is upgrade my GPU (my CPU is ancient by today's standards) , PC gaming isn't as expensive as most people make it out to be, and it allows more freedom to play your game, and more bang for you buck.

Well its expensive, but definitely with the Steam sales (where I will be making the most of my purchases) it finally seems reasonable that I would be able to make the upgrades. I am on  a shitty Laptop right now, but its strong enough to play the free Steam games. Just opened an account, so I am going to get those. What are the best free games on Steam?

I hear ya, S.T.A.G.E. I feel like it's no wonder PC gamers laugh at console gamers - more expensive games with less detail to boot!

True. PS/PC for me all day now. :)

I made the switch a few months ago.

I completely agree.

PC gaming is only expensive if you want it to be. After all, most of us already have a PC. All you need is a powerful enough CPU, enough RAM (4/8GB are enough) and the most important bit: the graphics card.

And you don't need the latest GPU either, something like a GTX560 Ti, which costs the same as a console, is more than enough to play everything at 1080p. And in 2 years you'll still be able to play almost all games with only droping some graphic details to med, and it will still look better.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I wish I would've bought a powerful PC in time for the summer sale. God. My neighbor already has fifty games from the summer sale alone.  He basically put his consoles away until he finishes them all. lol

i think consoles are good the first years after release but after some years it is really getting crazy to pay more for less. just compare skyrim for pc or console. on console, you get a good skyrim version but nothing more. on pc, you get the better version for less money AND you can use thousands of mods to change the game like you want to have it. and if you want to play it with controller on your couch with your huge tv, just do it with the pc version in 1080p instead of 720p

i will still buy consoles in the future and i'm pretty sure that i will own all consoles next gen, wii u/ps4/nextbox but yeah, atm pc gaming is very cheap and very good.
