I voted ms, cause who would want a satanist corp to continue getting away with it... (sad day in gaming industry)

Every time Sony fans attack M$ for being a soulless, evil megacorporation that's just in the videogame industry for the $$$, the irony meter explodes into a small mushroom cloud.

Well, to be fair it's far more accurate than saying that about Sony. It all comes from their culture (Sony's). Microsoft non-existent presence in Japan isn't a coincidence. If we people in the US had the same high standards of business and personal ethics, Microsoft would be out of the console market in the US too. But, this society honestly is f**ked up.

Thank you Pesmerga7551.

@ NightDragon83, I guess you still living under a rock, the world is so corrupt that it mostly runs by freemasons/illuminati, ever heard of them?! Wake up and fight for your rights!! >_>

There's freemasons out there?  Sweet... I'm about to put an addition on my home, and was worried I'd have to pay through the roof (pardon the pun) for some masonry work, but now I don't have to worry since there's good hard working folks out there who'll do the job for free!

And Apple would be completely out of business as well, but that's not the case, is it?

The reason for M$'s non-existent presence in Japan is because they are an American company, and Japanese consumers are generally very xenophobic when it comes to purchasing goods made from foreign companies.  It's got nothing to do with M$'s perceived business practices.

And let's be real here... where do you think most of the parts and components for PS3 are manufactured?  Same as where the stuff for not only 360 is made, but Apple too... China.  In fact, the same company in charge of manufacturing and distributing Apple products is the same one that is partly doing so for the PS3... Foxconn.  Remember them?  Being investigated for poor working conditions in their plants and such?

Such high standards of business and personal ethics right there.

First things first: as I said at the beginning and at the end of that post, I don't think any of the 3 will leave. I just speculated, for thesake of it and also for fun, who could leave based on what does the hardware mean to them and not based on financials like everyone else did (because it would have been boring).

Having said that, having their own home console now (as in the moment we are) is not as important as back then when they started with the NES. The hardware of the consoles no longer are a constraint as it was then, meaning that they could work with any console of the competence and still make the games that they want, not the ones that they can.

Also take into account that Nintendo can't do the same as Microsoft and Sony and go the powerhouse route with their consoles (something they realized after the GameCube and that lead to the Wii), and it's something that it is also present on WiiU (better than Wii/PS3/Xbox360 but will fall short of PS4/nextbox), and this fact has made the lack of third party support more evident, reducing their royalties income. And they also lost money with the GameCube, albeit during a short period.

What will happen with WiiU (will they sell it at a loss?, will it have more 3rd party support and therefore make more in royalties?, will they sell enough consoles to warrant the approval of a new console by their shareholders?) is a mistery.

It is for all this things that I went with Nintendo as quiting the hardware business but not the software business.

But again, the first post was ment to be a joke, with may be some truth inside and some fears, but a joke. Don't take it too seriously, neither the first one nor this.

Oki

I didn't vote none, as that is a cowards pick. I don't see Sony or Nintendo going anywhere. Gaming is what they do, more so Nintendo. MicroSoft is the only one I can actually see leaving the market, so I vote for them.

You are right. None is the most boring answer and that's what everyone's going to pick. Changing poll now. I'm also getting rid of the 'everybody' option. I don't want any neutral votes. A poll has much more meaning when each of the options actually mean something.

The thread title is, "Who will survive?"  The poll talks about who is leaving.  As it is now, I can't vote for any.  If I were to say which one is more likely to exit, looking at either Sony, due to the losses, or Microsoft, if it gets bored with the console market.

Actually, the poll is a yes or no question.

Microsoft owns America
Sony owns Europe
Nintendo owns Japan

If this happens then Microsoft could dominate

We're getting less and less exclusives? Last time I checked PS3 had more first party exclusives, and 360/Wii have more exclusives then their predecessors in general.

Also really? No option for no one being eliminated, or a 4th party joining in? I really doubt anyone will get eliminated, especially if console generations continue to last longer (giving more incentive to buy a second console). I think this is especially true when you realize that the 360 and PS3 are the best selling 2nd and 3rd place systems in their generation, and they did this by a significant margin (before the best selling second places only had about 30 million)

I don't think anyone will get eliminated. I think Nintendo will dominate by getting 3rd party support while maintaining a strong 1st party portfolio, and releasing an affordable system which still has Call of Duty support. Sony and Microsoft will battle for second again, especially since they will be entering the generation late, and I think Valve will work with Apple and make a 4th console. Valve is Microsofts main compeditor for PC's, and it's only a matter of time before they make a Steam console.

I think there will be 4 home consoles next gen.

However.....Sony might pull out of the handheld market, or at least really drop far behind, with the game lacking PSV. I also hear a lot of talk about Sony's stock going down, so maybe, just maybe, Sony might stop producing Playstation systems, and give Valve the rights to all their studios (if Sony goes Bankrupt).

The poll is: Who will exit the market next gen?

Among the list of choices is one or two of the console makers of this generation.  Nowhere is none there, so not sure how yes or no fits here.  It is who from what I see.

If that's the case... why does Japan love other MS products?

Also... I mean... Sony has nothing but a huge history of bad ethics in regards to customers...

I mean... remember Rootkits?  and then lieing about rootkits... and then lieing about removeing rootkits...

and that's just one entry in a huge timelime.

This isn't the right one... but it works well enough. http://boingboing.net/2005/11/14/sony-anticustomer-te.html
