Forums - Nintendo - DS vs 3DS - First round: Third-party games!

That's great and all, but even if one were to get a 3ds, they couldn't play 6 of them(albeit 2 of those 6 are coming before years end with potential rumors for a 3rd) unless they lived in Japan. This list does show how much better support it is getting. Do a thread for 1st party games though. That's what I really want to see.

All things from Japan that matter and are big like those games I mentoned - with some exceptions - soon come west. Contrary to most, I'm very optimistic about this - some people were doubting that layton would come over... why??

As for 1st party games: most likely 3DS wins again. But would be a much closer battle.

Innovative games are hard to measure. The DS, offering the now standard touch+dual screens will always prevail in this, for obvious reasons. 3D gets a few points, but no one in the world has yet discovered the next big thing for portable gaming, smartphones included. It's like the GBA vs GB, no real breakthrough.

Don't forget sega's line and e-shop games.

Edit: oh you already did in that 'no. 10' paragraph.

Bomberman is from Ubisoft O.O
And Harvest moon is third party? I always thought it was a Nintendo game

well this is good, never actually thought about how the support was for DS at that time.

hopefully this is a sign of how things will be for WiiU compared to Wii

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Bomberman was Hudson-soft, which is no longer with us

(minute of silence)

Now the guy is Konami's. Which apparently doesn't know jack about what to do with him. Ubisoft just published it in Europe.

*Harvest Moon is Natsume's. A company known for Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, Harvest Moon and I'm sure I'm forgetting one here... Oh yeah, Harvest Moon

And people are singing gloom and doom for the 3DS. Idiots.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

The issue for 3DS isn't lack of support from 3rd party. In fact it probably has the strongest 1st or 3rd party support of any platform... in JAPAN. The issue which Nintendo acknowledge and are still working on is how to replicate that level of software support and by extension that market/sales momentum in US/Europe and other parts of the world.

The western developers just aren't flocking to the 3DS. They aren't flocking to portable support period except for a few exceptions like Ubisoft doing AC3-Liberation as a Vita exclusive.

I wonder if Vita will ever pick up momentum in any region and I wonder how long the 3DS momentum will last...

I am hoping for success of both Vita and 3DS. I care a little less about the iOS fad, but hope to see some great success stories there as well like Cut the Rope, Angry Birds, and a few choice others.

Did you know that Infinity Blade on iOS has made more money than all Gears of War games combined? (mainly because of how less it took to make)

How many rounds do you plan on doing VViper?
