Forums - Nintendo Discussion - DS vs 3DS - First round: Third-party games!

I gotta give it over to the early DS days for now, if only for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (amazing game) and Sonic Rush (great game).

Once Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - The Mirror of Fate (so that's where they've been hiding the Western support...) are out and about, we'll see if these awesome looking games can tip the scales in favor of the 3DS.

stoked about another big franchise like Legend of Heroes comign to 3DS,

question is will these be translated and release to the west? jrpgs is one genre the west is servely lacking in on the 3DS. common Nintendo this and MH4 would be fantastic.

How many rounds do you plan on doing VViper?

Actually, I don't even know why I put round in the title, as I never planned to do more than that, lol!

But I may do a first party round later, depending if this thread is successful.

I get your point and I agree, but you forgot to mention the bestselling (3 million copies) 2004/2005 third party DS game: http://www.vgchartz.com/game/2111/sonic-rush/

You're right! This is a big one! But released almost at the end of 2005, barely making it :)!

Scrap, err... Mr. Driller

This is not an 100% accurate list though, I never even researched the sales for the most, just got the names I recognized most TBH. But I think it's sufficient to prove a point.

Scrap Ridge Racer DS, because this thread is about third party games. Ridge Racer DS is a Nintendo published game that is a port of the Nintendo developed and published Ridge Racer 64.

But honestly, I am not too impressed by the 3DS's third party lineup. Despite the hugely successful DS, third parties have still been hesitant to bring their games to the 3DS. For the most part they wanted to stick to the PSP until the PSV would take over, that's pretty clear.

What games you want on 3DS? I think only a REAL Final Fantasy is missing from the big ones, tbh. Metal Gear too, but I'm being realistic here.

^Nintendogs+cats and Onitore: Brain Age 3 are missing on your list!

Very equal list, my highlights are:

DS:

Animal Crossing Wild World: Simply fantastic in my opinion. Unbelievable how this game steals your time with... nothing!
Brain Age: Never played the originals, but the one that came bundled with the DSi XL were great!
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time: This game is fantastic, changing the control from 2 buttons to a whopping 4 was incredible! Wacky story and gameplay elements.
Wario Ware touched: like all wario ware games, this pushes the limit on how retarded a man can be... I love it!

3DS:

Steel Diver: Just Kidding
Mario 3D Land: I safely say this game is revolutionary. Level design + 3D usage... one of the best marios ever, and that's saying a lot!
Kid Icarus Uprising: I have no words for this one, great "new" addition to the Nintendo portfolio
Zelda OoT: Usually a remake wouldn't make this list, but... a remake of the greatest ever? No way can it be out.

With the games I haven't played, but I'm sure will be great, like Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, NSMB2 and Luigi's Mansion (never played the original :O ), 3DS edges this list.

But it had more time too.

Great list for people in Japan. So this is why it sells so much in Japan and not so well elsewhere. Looking at that 3rd party list makes me want to get one now (no point til the games are out tho).

tons of good games, I just hope we can get to play most of them though.
