The issue for 3DS isn't lack of support from 3rd party. In fact it probably has the strongest 1st or 3rd party support of any platform... in JAPAN. The issue which Nintendo acknowledge and are still working on is how to replicate that level of software support and by extension that market/sales momentum in US/Europe and other parts of the world.
The western developers just aren't flocking to the 3DS. They aren't flocking to portable support period except for a few exceptions like Ubisoft doing AC3-Liberation as a Vita exclusive.
I wonder if Vita will ever pick up momentum in any region and I wonder how long the 3DS momentum will last...
I am hoping for success of both Vita and 3DS. I care a little less about the iOS fad, but hope to see some great success stories there as well like Cut the Rope, Angry Birds, and a few choice others.
Did you know that Infinity Blade on iOS has made more money than all Gears of War games combined? (mainly because of how less it took to make)
