Is this another one of those analyst saying Apple will doom consoles, home and handheld?

No, just Nintendo is doomed.
I saw the "price of wiiu" picture, got distracted, went to go see if there was an announcement made or something and I somehow missed it, forgot what was going on, stopped caring.

While I've stated many times that console gaming is changing next gen... Nintendo is not the company that is really in any kind of long-term trouble.
Nintendo's unique IPs will continue to sustain it and as a company they are already addressing this change in the marketplace head-on. MS should do well as well as they can easily incorporate Windows. Sony is really the only uncertain console maker as their first party isn't enough to remain afloat (like Nintendo), but their purchase of Gaikai and strong integration of Android in everything else they make leaves a lot of argument that they too have planned well for next-gen.
There are always gonna be people that will pay for over the top experiences that aren't available on iOS.
For one, Mario will never be on the App Store (legally)
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Ubisoft (UBI) said it is developing a zombie shooting game for Wii U and converting some of its existing titles to work with the new console. Executives at two other major video game publishers, who declined to be named for fear of harming their relationships with Nintendo, say that they will wait to see whether Nintendo’s new system catches on before committing money to it. ... |
i wonder if A) if that is actually legit and B) who it is.

I think the only obvious thing for Nintendo to do now is allow Nintendo appps and games on the Galaxy and Kindle. That would actually be a small hit to apple. may make them angry too.....^_^ |
It might be best not to awaken the beast...
Anyway, I stopped reading after this, because it doesn't make any real sense;
"The popularity of iPhone and iPad titles such as Angry Birds has ravaged console sales for Nintendo, leading to a loss of nearly half a billion dollars last year, its first in three decades."
There is no way of proving Apple, and Angry Birds for that matter, have any impact on Nintendo's operation. They are not really competitors anyway. Moreover, Nintendo's one-time loss has everything to do with their pricecut of the 3DS and the infavorable Yen. I wouldn't be surprised if they've at least broke even last quarter already. Like said by many others, Nintendo is probably in the least trouble of the console makers right now.
It's funny the article claims The Gamepad was inspired from iPhone when the DS released in 2004 ffs. Also the article is not just Nintendoom , it is also questions the need of a Playstation if the Apple TV becomes a reality. Knowing Apple pricing , the TV will prob be more expensive than a PS3/360 and HD Tv together.
I stopped reading to ask this, Serious question, how many times has Nintendo been doomed over the last 16 years?

If you only look at it from an annual point of view then the answer is clearly 16.
