France 16th February 2008:

Console Weekly Total

WII: 31,555 1,617,346 (+ 147k)
PS3: 13,167 649,835 (+ 20k)
360: 2,776 629,655(+20k)

 

Edit:

Actually seeing as the article says PS3 passed 360 during Valentine week then this data is unlikely to be from that week, and more likely to be from the following week.

PS3: 11,999 661,834 (+32k)
360: 2,609 632,264 (+22k)

==> sorry but PS3 is matching Xbox360 in UK, and very close in NA despite her higher price.

Conclusion : PS3 is more popular EVERYWHERE on this planete than the Xbox360

(dont believe what is said on internet by Sony haters, they were dreaming about PS3's death, they were wrong)

A little strange for a vastly more popular console to be outsold by PS3 in January in both USA (NPD data) and UK (chart track), don't you think?

These data just confirm my anecdotal evidence from France.
I'm amazed at how accurate my analysis of some markets are this gen. Good times...

Wii seems to have been overtracked, but I actually believe the problem isn't in the 2008 sales, but it is in 2007 numbers. Vgchartz has Wii's LTD at the end of 2007 at around 1.4M, while we received a report that Wii sold just over 1M in 2007. Combining it with the December 2006 launch month means Wii was probably close to 1.2M at the end of 2007, so it is 200k higher than GFK at that point.

Probably, Nintendo said they had sold (most likely shipped) 1m in France at the beginning of December.

Btw, I think these numbers could very well be very recent figures, so for the end of February or the beginning of March. If it took PS3 until the week of Valentine's day to take over Xbox 360 I would expect them to need at least another 2 weeks to create a gap of 20k units, unless for some magical reason sales of PS3 exploded at the second part of February.

Some updated LTDs:

Wii: 1.7m
PS3: 750k
360: 650k

Heureusement, le président de Sony Computer France, Georges Fornay, ironise aujourd’hui : « Apparemment les gens de Microsoft sont meilleurs pour rire que pour vendre ». Façon de rappeler que malgré ces couacs, la PS3 s’est aujourd’hui vendue à près de 750 000 exemplaires en France. Mieux que la XBox 360 qui ne disposerait que d’un parc de 650 000 machines.

D’autant plus que le troisième larron brouille les pistes. Pendant que les deux gros s’invectivent par péniche et pressing interposés, le « petit » Nintendo (tout de même 10,2 milliards de dollars de chiffre d’affaires en 2007) avance gentiment. Sa Wii serait présente dans 1,7 millions de foyers hexagonaux et réoriente sa stratégie, abandonne les boutonneux pour cibler les quadras.
