@Mike: Not really. It would support data that says PS3 is vastly popular than X360 ;)

We have some updated GfK France numbers for PS3, 360, and this time Wii too.

WII: 1.47m
PS3: 630k
360: 610k

Link

The article is from last week, and says according to the latest GfK figures, so the latest this could be is W/E March 2nd, but French GfK software charts are always 2 weeks later than most other European countries, so I think it's more likely W/E 17 March, or maybe W/E 24 March.

Anyway, since the last report from mid-January PS3 has now officially overtaken 360 in France. Assuming both reports had equally up-to date data then PS3 sold 67k in a 7 week period compared to 360's 21k, roughly outselling it 3-1 in France.

um, wii? I hate when they leave out numbers. Useless.

The latest numbers include Wii; 1.47m.

Actually these weeks Vgchartz says the PS3 is outselling the Xbox360 weekly by more than a 4x factor in France.

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Vgchartz cant even get USA numbers right, why on earth do you think they can for France?

I like vgchartz and dont mean to be rude to my hosts but honestly, these numbers are meaningless, unless vgchartz can give me firm evidence otherwise.

Most likely they just extrapolate made up weekly sales from shipments to Europe, and so forth, and the articles we get about each countries sales. The numbers will never be too out date this way, but on the other hand the current numbers are likely essentially fabricated via some algorithm based on past sales which is then slightly randomized.

Some, maybe, other useful informations from the same article :

Toutefois, un porte-parole de Sony estime que « le parc de PS 3 en Europe devrait dépasser celui de la Xbox 360 cet été. Nous sommes passés devant eux en France, le jour de la Saint-Valentin ! »

According to a spokesman from Sony, the PS3 has passed the Xbox 360 on Valentine's Day ( February 14th i think ) in France.

Another one is really ambiguous :

"En France, la Xbox 360 occupe, en effet, la troisième place, avec 610 000 unités, derrière la PS 3 (630 000) et la Wii (1,47 million), selon les dernières estimations de GfK. Le classement est identique en Italie et en Espagne, mais pas en Grande-Bretagne."

Like I read it, it means Spain and Italy podiums are the same as France. Which would mean 1 : Wii - 2 : PS3 - 3 : Xbox 360. This contradicts what we usually read on these two countries. But, it could simply be a badly made sentence.

360 is vastly more popular than PS3 in USA and UK, though.

So vgchartz is undertracking 360 and overtracking PS3 in France then.

It's worded badly, but I think they mean 360 is also behind PS3 in Spain and Italy, but not in UK.
