Oh yeah I forgot how scary that game was, especially that shackled old deformed hag that you used to randomly encounter. You knew you were in the same area as her because you could here her moans and chain rattles from a mile a way. Pretty scary stuff because you couldn't kill it.

Dead Space relies on a lot of cheap scares, whereas Amnesia gives you a true sense of being powerless, and being genuinely scared of your surroundings

Amnesia isn't as yuck. Yucky stuff is a lot more scary in my opinion.

think of it this way, there is no point in playing a horror game if you're not scared, just so you know Dead Space 2 is a lot less scary, and Dead Space 3 looks like an action game, so you're actually quite fortunate to be able to play it fresh and get scared, there really hasn't been any good horror games in recent years.

I think I've never been scared by a game. I was around 11-13 when I got a PS1 and one of my favourite type of games were Survival Horror games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. I played them with no problem back then and it was just like playing any other game for me, not scary at all...

It's extremely hard to get scared of a game today that I'm 22, specially by something like Dead Space which relies on cheap scares with things coming out to you suddenly and a lot of weapons and ammo at your disposal... feels more like an action/TPS game to me xD. I wish I could get scared like you, it would be fun :P

I did the same exact thing. I could play for maybe half an hour before I would stress the fuck out and have to switch to something else. Had a great time playing it though, I think the intense fear made the game better.
