Dead Space relies on a lot of cheap scares, whereas Amnesia gives you a true sense of being powerless, and being genuinely scared of your surroundings

In your mind! Dead Space is extremely scary. (And yuck!)

Amnesia isn't as yuck. Yucky stuff is a lot more scary in my opinion.
