2.) Sony won't want to do that. They wanted their amazing OLED screen to be huge.

3.) The 3DS crowd won't necessarily want a Vita, they want Nintendo's games that is why they bought the 3DS.

The main thing I think would be advertising. Sony needs to roll out an ambitious advertising campaign that is better then the one Microsoft used with the kinect. After all that some games would keep it strong after holidays.
