In Texas' defense a lot of those negative stats like poverty and SAT scores is because Texas is FILLED with illegal immigrants. California, for example, in 1970, was in the top 3 in terms of public education but now in 2012 it ranks DEAD LAST.

Wait... Do they include illegal immigrants when they do that kind of researches?

I can understand the criminality numbers, but not the ones about education.

Yes, they do.

I am not so sure on Texas' stats - I will search for them - but I know in California we rank dead last in education when we used to rank top 3 (maybe even number one for a while). Here's a source from 2005: http://www.rand.org/news/press/2005/01/03.html

Well, I only did a very quick read, but all I saw was:

"California's large immigrant population means the state has an abundance of students learning to speak English and parents who do not speak English. The 2000 Census showed that 5.8 percent of California school-aged children had trouble speaking English, compared with a national average of 2.5 percent."

which doesn't mention any illegals immigrants.

You have to live in California to see the results of illegal immigration. But it's also legal immigration as well - the USA has to close its borders, period.

seems legit...

Wow who likes this guy or takes him seriously? For a guy who slams other people for stupidity, he comes off extremely arrogant and ignorant. How do you expect to spread a point if you talk like a child? And how can you generalize an entire state of people?

Why? If more people want to come here and do an honest day's work, I welcome them. Though I do think it should be regulated so we don't get too many people at once.

Yes.

Texas and California are some of, I think, the worst in the USA for Illegal Immigration. And America is too lenient on it.

yeah... this guy's annoying as hell. If you're looking for a quality atheist channel go to thethinkingatheist, or some Hitchens fan made channel

I listened to some jackass yell into a camera for about 10 seconds before I was tired of listening to some jackass yelling into a camera.

I had a similar feeling. He was screaming about 'stupid' Texans whilst coming across as equally stupid himself. Most of the time he backed up his arguement by saying "F*** Texas".

it's funny because in most cases I'd totally agree his unfocused rants are pathetic and loud, but after watching how many years of Fox News (and any american news for that matter), I think "Fuck Texas" is about as apt a sentiment as you can get about a state as backwards as they are.

See, there's no rationale when dealing with people like that. there's no intelligent debate, there's no calm rational discussions, the extreme right (fox news, texas, alabama, other 'red states') are known for getting support by catering to old timey, traditionalist, small government sentimentalities of people living in the past and winning by being so loud and obnoxious that 'mature' people who just want to make the world a better place and progress are too busy trying to make the world a better place to waste their time and energy in a fruitless shouting match with the far right. When people like this 'atheist' dude and Keith Olbermann shout back, it's just them resorting to the same shout-tactics that they've been unsuccessfully fighting against for decades.

It's a matter of "fighting fire with fire".
