Forums - Gaming - Wada: No Final Fantasy VII Remake Until Original Has Been Topped

Um it has already happened, they are called FF6 and FF9

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

An interpretation that I read somewhere is that he doesn't actually mean make a better game than it (X was my favourite), but rather get everyone to shut about is and talk about how amazing FF XV is

This is pretty reasonable, I think

Ok when Final Fantasy XlV releases on the PS3 lets just say it was the best game in the series

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Seriously you are all drunk if you dont think FF7 is the best of the series. Everything in that game is awesome and is loaded with content. None of the later games had the same ammount of content and variety.

Great storyline, flexible and customisable combat system, plenty of mini games and player choices (think of that gold saucer for example, or even that epic bitchslapping scene or how you could choose wich female to go in a date with, etc), varied overworld and towns with clear cultural inspirations, incredible characters, epic storyline and wonderful memorable music. It was a heck of a journey through the land and of self discovery and a lengthy quest.

None of the later games had ALL of these points. One can argue FF9 a bit, but none of the other FF's have excelled at at all of those points, none other got all of those.

Also guys, i sugest you better stop setting versus XIII up for fail. It will be no FF7 because squeenix is nothing like it used to be.

Wada is trying to force the employees to create something new they can milk, leaving FF7 as a final trump card. Much like the carrot on a stick. Dunno if thats gonna work though.

i really thought FF7 was coming for the DS, also i dont see it coming for the PS3, if the 3DS continues to sell well, it might be the chosen one, still i believe they would prefer releasing it for a home console, but rpgs have been proven very succesful on hhelds...

So, in others words opinions? You'd be surprised how so many really do not think 7 is better than most other FFs. It's very much just in the middle of the road.

I was trying to present a factual and rational basis of why it is the best one. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I'm not entirely sure which FF series really was my favorite. FFX or FFV might be. I haven't played VI yet, sadly.

I am surprised at fans of FF9. I found FF9 was the most backwards and disappointing of game of the entire FF series. It is much more like a Crystal Chronicles game than a real FF game.

FF9, FF11, and FF14 are the three games that should not have been counted in the main FF series.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

This is why FF7 is held higher then most other FF games, it's because of all the side stuff you can do that wasn't part of the main game but were optional challenges.
-Want to raise chocobos? then get a gold one and find knights of the round
-you like fighting tough bosses? You got two weapons to kill
-mini-games and challenge battles? Head on over to the Gold Saucer and go wild. Win Cloud final limit break, Omnislash
-you just want to play the story? ignore the above and beat Sephiroth
-you like tower defense games? Then head NE from Junon and protect the Phoenix. Reward = Phoenix materia.
-Want to customize your characters? play around with different combinations of materia, and add the magic/skills/traits you want them to have.
-There are two optional characters you can get, also if you do get them they have their own side stories.
-------------

I've played FF9 a few years ago, FF7 many times years ago so those aspects I remember the most, I haven't played 7/8/9/10/12 in a while. Yet as you can see I can still recall a lot of aspects the game has. This is what makes FF7 memorable, and if you genuinely don't like it then you might not be a fan of the story but you can't deny at how well executed the game is in term of sales, fans, and content. its still either #1 or #2 top download on PSN. :)
