He is right Nintendo fans are weird. Nintendo had a decent press conference and showed a lo things Nintendo fans care about. But you have to understand, they can´t show new IP´s when they are not developing ones. Altough it was a stupid move not to reveal the Wii U specs at least. Bu maybe they are no confident enough with this product.

I think they are developing some new ip's

IP singular not plural

Its about damn time if its true, I just hope it wont be a platformer. Nintendo need a real RPG or a good Third Person Shooter.

Nintendo has plenty of RPG franchises. I'd love to see a Nintendo take on the typical third-person shooter, though.

But arent most of them JRPG´s?

With all due respect, an RPG is an RPG. If you're speaking of an RPG that follows predominately western design principles, then I'd like to see what Nintendo could do in that space. Otherwise, be happy with Xenoblade. It's more of a "real" RPG than most games considered to be "real" RPGs.

Yep Xenoblade is awesome we can agree on that, but Nintendo needs a game like the Witcher 2 or Mass Effect a more grown up RPG.

I don't believe in "IP". If the audiences for 3D Mario and 2D Mario are different, they are different business considerations.

People don't buy games because their favourite character is in them. If one pasted Mario characters over Ratchet and Clank it wouldn't sell like 3D Mario.

Ok, so you're specifically the kind of fan Nintendo would exaggerate to listen to. There are already so many Mario games out there, it would become an abomination if this cycle of keeping with the past never ended.

Keep the 2D Mario trend

Keep the SMB trend

Keep the SMB2 trend

Keep the M64 trend

Keep the Sunshine trend

Keep the Galaxy trend

Keep the trend that branches off the trend

When does it trend?

And anyways, I already said 2D + 3D Mario is acceptable. But earlier you were advocating for Galaxy + Sunshine + M64 + NSMB. It's too much!

Hard to say Nintendo needs a "grown-up" RPG when Pokemon sales figures surpass eight digits. If anything I think this is a realm best left to third-party developers.

But Nintendo has the golden touch. It would be great to see Nintendo tackle it.

I believe Pandora's tower is that though, and so is Fire Emblem to an extent.

What do you think?

Pandoras Tower sucks big times

Nintendo can make something much better they just don´t want to

Nintendo may have a golden touch per se, but the only way I can see myself interested in yet another adult-oriented (supposedly) RPG is if it rewards the player for virtually every aspect of the game (basically Xenoblade on steroids with a darker plot). Or they do something completely crazy and unexpected to the point where I can't help but appreciate it.

Pandora's Tower wasn't developed by Nintendo, so it's not a good example in the first place. Plus it's more action/adventure than RPG.

The standard is higher with them

I still think a game Nintendo needs is a Third Person Shooter just to prove to Third Parties that it can succeed on a Nintendo Platform
