Forums - Sony - Dear Sony, How to make PSN better when PS4 launches

Limited store only makes sense to a certain degree and really just for the handhelds. Everything in the PSP and PS1 specific since that's the stuff that can be used on the PSP (aside for trailers etc. for other platforms).

Then the Vita needs access to everything the PSP has it's able to use all of that plus the vita specific stuff such as Vita games and Apps.

Then the PS3 needs access to everything the VIta has as the PS3 acts as content storage/manager for both PSP and PSV. That, plus PS3 specific items and PSN games. This is the reason why the PS3 store is so stuffed but it kinda has to be. Some people simply need the PS3 to get the most out of their handheld.

The PS4 may lose some PS3 specific content if PS3 B/C won't be present but it still acts like a hub for the portable, or at the least the PSV.

Also, the Vita pretty much confirms that PS4 will have cross-game chat. Actually, now that I think about it... the Vita covers almost everything you've listed.

Everything you guys are talking about (except home and magic game download) already exists on Vita. Sony would have to take a step backwards to not have these features for PS4. I also think the Orbis needs a form of NEAR.

How does near work exactly?

Isn't it a snapshot of your exact location at that exact moment and who within that area is playing what?

Only way that could work on the PS4 is if it tells you who in your street is playing what...?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I have friends online, both "friends" I've never met and friends I know in real life. But I have no desire to speak to them every second I sign on, nor do I feel a need to comment on their games unless it's absolutely necessary (e.g, is game X good?)

I guess it's because I prefer single player games over Multi so I tend not to ask for "matchups" but hey, it seems I'm in the minority these days with that mentality.

I wasn't tryign to suggest you didn't have friends online, but simply that you haven't maybe used cross game chat with them in it's most practical sense. Obviously most people don't want to speak with their friends every second - the point I made was simply that with a few buttons, you're friends can all be together, and you can decide to play a game, how long until they're ready, if they're available, etc. And then with 1 more button press, they're all invited to the same match.

It doesn't require you to talk with them "every second" but it's far faster an easier than trying to use a console's text communication, or sending voice messages to person after person. It's quick, it's easy, and enables you to coordinate with people as if they're in the same room.

But yes, if you prefer single player games, then it's entirely unnessecary for you.

1) More functional
2) Fast downloads
3) Faster synching...sometimes it takes FOREVER and it's not my internet I live in Toronto with Bell Fib

- Seperate stores for PS4, PS3, PSP, and PSVita. Its annoying and the store is cluttered when you group in PSP and PS3 titles. I can only imagine how much more cluttered it will be when PS4 is added to that list.

I'm not sure about seperate stores but there does need to be a far greater distinction made.  with ps3/vita cross play i'm finding myself not always clear on what system the game is even for.

to add:

the store should be broken down into sections by games.  One place that has everything about that game: the digitial game, demos, game videos, dlc, soundtracks, ect.

the store should be on the actual cross media bar - requiring me to launch the app puts in a layer of inaccessiblility.

the store should know what games i have (bought digitally or disc based) and inform me when new DLC launches (like Iphone's push notifications).

the list of things i have downloaded needs to be restructured.  If sony has any expectation of my buying my games fully digital (and obviously they do) i need to be able to delete and redownload easily.  the list of things i already bought needs to be sortable and filterable and searchable.

I need a wish list: things i intend to buy but not yet.

place to add full game reviews.

- New User Interface. I actually like the PS3 UI, but its time for an update.

no opinion.  the cross media bar in nice but i'm not opposed to other ideas if truely better.

- Billboards / Ads (Game related only).... bitch all you want to, XBL has ads and its the main reason 360 games always sell more. Having millions of people log in each day to an ad saying "_______ In Stores Today" gives consumers a greater awareness of when their favorite games are coming out. Even the video downloads are easier to access in XBL which is why gamers are more in touch with whats coming out and what new games are in stores. PSN in contrast requires you to go to the store to download videos, and when you get there, its a mess.

bitching but agree to a certain extent.

- Faster downloads. No Installs.

damn you gaikai rumor for not coming true.

also, i can deal with slow if everything downloaded in the background and i didn't need to wait forever to "prepare background download" and request that for every item being downloaded.

- Cross game chat.... honestly I couldnt care less about this crap. But apparently many others do.

yes.

- Release a PS4 bundle that comes with a cheap headset. None of that bluetooth stuff either. Wired headsets may not be as high-tech and fashionable as wireless/bluetooth headsets... but they function much better and dont require being charged all the time. Why bundle a headset? Because PSN is a desert in most games. XBL has way more people talking and is a better experience because of that... due to the fact that more people have headsets on 360. More people with headsets = more fun, more people forming online friendships, ppl going on PSN more, and more word of mouth about your games.

Yes - but with a console level setting to turn off hearing other people for those that don't want it.

any other suggestions?

...and other things that i currently don't know i want but will once i know about them.  xD

I think Steam on PSN would be awesome. I mean they already work really close together.
