lol I know that, dummy.

Confusion. I'll try something else. Can you please clarify what you meant by this line and we'll take it from there:

"Primarily, all rumors now show PowerPC CPUs vs ARM based CPUs"

haha sorry.

This 56 page leak says all the new processors would be ARM based CPUs. However, all rumors over the last ... nearly year.. have all focused on PowerPC CPUs. That really is the only big difference between what we have currently rumored and what this presentation details.

Wait a minute. I am almost certain that for CPU it says "ARM/X86" in the document right on the main spec page.

You're right it does. But that just means they weren't sure on which chip architecture to use. I'm just saying that they moved to x86 PowerPC and there is no rumor with ARM. I think I confused myself and only really saw the ARM part at first. Either way non-issue.

One version is ARM (RT) and the other is X86 (PRO).

Are you messing with my brain now?

We're discussing the leaked document about the X720, right?

Now all of a sudden it seems you are refering to the CPUs of the Surface tablet. (with RT and PRO)

lol what is going on here.

fixed lol, please reread.

For CPU it says ARM/X86.

Then under Backwards compatibility it says PPC for Power-PC.

As far as I know X86 is en entirely different architecture from Power-PC and the only big ones who make X86 CPUs are Intel and AMD.

Anyway, you are probably right. My fanboyism towards AMD just hopes AMD gets to make the CPU. Even if the doc suggested x86 (AMD/Intel) then that has probably changed. You have kept good track of the rumors.

Ah yeah PPC is RISC architecture. My bad. For some reason I was thinking it was x86 too.

Either way... all rumors that I'm aware of for 720 show PPC as the CPU so yeah, I think they decided to ditch that idea at some point. Maybe it costs less to just have one CPU design that would also allow backwards compatibiliy than having a new design plus 360s CPU. Maybe they realized how much it costs PS3 to do that same idea originally with CELL and PS2s old CPU in the original skus.

Yeah, reading that X720 would have seperate units for BC was almost a shock. A good shock though because it proves MS think BC is important enought to put it in there one way or another.

Further, if X720 has BC then by all means Sony should have backwards compability too, don't you think?

What else have you picked up from the document?

Will it have 4GB total RAM shared between CPU and GPU or will the GPU have another 2GB of video-RAM perhaps? So 6GB in total. (I hope so)

I hated their focus on platform integration, kinect this and glasses that. And their target for hardware power in X720 in that Doc said everething between x4 to x8. But I want x10.

Check out my comparison thread.

NEXT-GEN COMPARISON THREAD

I updated it with anything that seemed plausible based on other rumors and simple logic.

4GB seems what they are headed too but with all the new features and multitasking, etc, I'm surprised nothing has hinted to separate pools or RAM for CPU/GPU. idk, still a long time before release and a lot more info surely to come.

The power focus of 6x times is what I always considered most likely and really, you can't hate the added smart features. If they dont' do that, you'll eventually want a box that does. I know I want a GoogleTV now, but I've been waiting as I figured I'd let the system mature first and see what companies do. With the proof that the new systems may have these features, well then that's perfect.

The only reason I bought a PS3 over 360 as a second system was due to bluray and free multiplayer.

Okay. But I dont even know what Google TV does. What benefit do you get from it compared to just normal cabel-TV?
