Does the Wii have enough time left to sneak it or will the release of WiiU be the final nail in its coffin?

If the GC can sell 2.1mil and the Xbox 3.7mil after the next-gen starts, the WiiU should easily be able to do another 8-9mil post-WiiU launch, and another 2-3 mil before then. So 110mil overall.

It is going to be tricky. I am betting it crosses 100M but does not make 105M.

It's possible, but at this point in the game, highly unlikely. Between the Wii and Wii-U, I can see a similar occurance that we've been seeing with the DS and 3DS. Ever since the 3DS hit with a decent price range, DS has barely been scraping 10K a week, with the exception of when a new title hits once in a while. Wii sales are already at an all time low, currently, and if the Wii-U's rumored price range is true, that's simply going to cause the Wii sales plumet even more. Once Wii-U is out, unless it just has that bad of a start (even worse than PS3), then Wii probably won't even be seeing 10K a week. Not to mention, Nintendo doesn't exactly have a history of supporting previous home consoles when new ones release (at least not in the same way they do with portables), so I sincerely doubt the Wii will be able to cover that gap.

Considering Nintendo's tendency to discontinue their consoles so quickly after introducing new hardware I would guess that the Wii will fail to surpass the PS1.

It is still possible. Once it hits $99, it should have a slight boost in sales through the end of next year.
