How come Resident Evil 6, Far Cry 3 and Tomb Raider aren't in the top 20? They're bigger games than Hitman.

Not anymore they're not. Hitman will be bigger than all three of them!

Haha, you are as passionate about Hitman as I am about Oblivion (Elder Scrolls).

I know that Square Enix is really counting on Hitman and it's considered a multi-million selling AAA franchise. Kinda like Ubisoft sees Splinter Cell. By the looks of things probably they are targeting 4 million in sales (judging from an article I read in Gamasutra about the huge size and budget of the dev studio in Canada that will be responsible for the Hitman series in the future).

Personally I think Hitman will get good reviews (85%) but underperform saleswise and not be profitable. Around 2.5 million on PS360.

Where is The Last of Us? Playstation All-Stars? God of War Ascension? Does Vgchartz dislike Sony or something? The Last of Us is ranked #291on Amazon video games so I find it very hard to believe it's not in the top 50.

The preorder charts don't list the highest preorders of the week, but the highest total preorders. Most of those games have only just begun accepting preorders and such won't appear. You only used amazon as a source and you expect playstation all-stars to chart despite being ranked 2410...

Anyway amazon makes up a tiny fraction of video game sales in the USA. Most game sales come from gamestop and walmart. Looking at gamestop's preorder page. The last of us is currently number 30 and god of war is number 19. I can't even find playstation all stars, its so far back... On walmart's preorder page Last of Us isn't even available for preorder yet, and god of war isn't even in the top 100 preordered titles. That is why those games aren't on the list yet, though if I were to guess I would say god of war will chart the soonest.

I don't think Hitman costs much to develop. Espescially not similar to Splinter Cell. Where did you get this article about the huge size and budget of the studio? I've always felt that Square has been only expecting modest sales from this title.

For the record, I predict it'll get somewhere in the mid to low 80s as well. I'm thinking at least 2 million on both the PS3 & 360 though. But a lot of it's going to depend on reviews and marketing though.

Gamasutra. It said that Hitman is an important franchise for Square Enix and for now this was the last Hitman made by IO but the next one will be developed by a huge newly opened studio in Canada.

Do u mean 2 mill + 2 mill on PS360?

Well that's stupid. Why can't publishers just be happy with moderate success & refining the game from there? Why do they always make these drastic changes & make such huge risks for more money when you're doing just fine now. That's why studios get shut down.

Yeah, 4 million in total. It's not that much to be honest. Maybe 3 million if things go wrong.

Thought Pokemon would be a bit higher...

Seems to be like last week, meh.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Halo 4 will be bigger than Cod.

On one console, perhaps. It won't be close combining PS360 sales.

It won't be bigger even on one console. I am sure of it.

Anyone else think the Black ops 2 preorders are very low?? A sign of things to come maybe?

Wait until they reveal multi-player.

I'm having same thoughts.

There's NO WAY that none of those games are in the Top 50. Out of all the sales tracking, the Pre-Orders chart is the least accurate on VGChartz. It's not very reliable.
