I had to give it a 1. The lag for the single player kills it for me. When fighting with more 3 enemies on screen the game slows down and the fights become about luck instead of good timing with my skills and potions. Its a joke because of that. I thought it was my comp at first but I meet the recommended specs. It even happens when I open chests. Not sure if its the online requirement that is doing it or just unoptimized code.

This has happened often since the last two Hotfixes (1.0.2b and 1.0.2c). I think their netcode has been messed too much. It really blows when you're playing inferno with 60 ms latency and suddendly everything on screen stops and after a few seconds and a massive rubber band, you're dead.

Not to mention that it seems some NVIDIA graphical cards are having a load of issues since the latest hotfix.

Yea i even tried playing on a lower resoultion with the lowest settings to see if it helps. There have been a few times where I "died" but the lag missed a health potion i pressed than sudenly i'm "alive" Just kills the feel of strategy/skill and makes it feel more like luck.

That has happened to me as well. After a bit of lag, I'm suddendly left with 0 HP but I'm still alive (though my HP gets frozen at zero and the screen with the red-ish hue) until I get hit again and actually die.

There's a lot of things that kills all the strategy and skill that this game could have and lag is a big one. To be honest, I didn't see this many faults until I hit Inferno, but the way this difficulty mode was built really makes all the flaws in the game stand out in a big and bad way.

lestat, what score did you give?

i understand what you're saying. all that stuff is really annoying. but i dunno, personally, i find it to be a good thing. that's just me, i know. i may be a little masochistic in that way :P i like the feeling of having to tear my hair out fighting a mob. different strokes for different folks, i guess.

I gave it a 7.

I believe the game has the potential to be a 9 or maybe a 10 a few patches down the road. D2 at it's very start had also a lot of bugs and hair-tearing flaws and it was not until 1.5 (and especially 1.8) that things got closer to what we remember of the game (though LOD trully is to thank for that), but as it is, there's so many bad design decisions and stepbacks imo.

I like hair tearing difficulty and don't mind oneshot situations and squash-you-like-a-bug scenarios, that's why I played a naked Thief on Demon's Souls on NG++++. But while I enjoy those scenarios, I also want to be able to survive based solely on my skill, which on DIII seems to happen randomly or just in too limited a quantity.

I guess I have to give it a 1, since as long as there is single player server lag I won't buy it. My internet connection does have it's hiccups now and then. Not buying until you can play offline.

I refuse to vote.

Poll is fucked, and is using review sites scoring system.

A 5 in this poll sounds awful.

Wasn't bugrimmer writing for some magazine or something, I'm sure I remember reading this....!?

Shame.

OP,

How the hell can you give the game a 9 outta 10 and it can still be much much improved!?

What!?

Positives:

1) Gameplay is fun and fast

Negatives:

1) Dialogue and story are at times disappointing and silly.

2) The story is just WAY too short. I'm not a grinder, and so I have no reason to go back through and play the game over and over again after I beat it the first time. I was suuuper disappointed with the short length of the game.

because the issues are technical. the important stuff, being the gameplay, is excellent for me. i really like the game a lot despite the issues.

oh and i still do that. my 9/10 score is pretty much the same as metacritic's score anyway. so it isn't like i'm pulling this out of nowhere.

Ah ok, no probs then in which case I salute you. Technical problems get games pulled down way more than they should.

Jumped the gun a bit because I don't like your poll :p

i won't vote ('cause i didn't play it) but my friend gave it a pretty average review to me. fun but short and some angst at the always online. he has already stopped playing it which is not exactly a positive sign.
