is it at all possible so many are making this mistake (CNN I can understand screwing up, but Fallon is a gamer...) because it just seems more natural for them to continue using their Wii?

Because maybe they feel like there is still untapped potential in the thing?

From what I understand it's last years E3 that's caused the confusion over the Wii U (and rightly so imo), you would think that this years conference would of cleared things up as it was made pretty apparent that the Wii U is a brand new machine, but I guess not.

The ignorance there is overwhelming...

The 3DS had a similar issue, but Nintendo advertised it well, and now no-one has this issue. Expect the same thing here.

I' m sure they will.

It wil be interesting to see how they will market the A-symmetrical concept. It's very cool but also a bit complicated. Nintendo will have to find the right marketing words.
