Of the big three Sony is the only one that even bring up the competition specifically. The others only speak in generalities unless asked a direct question about another company. On top of that Sony doesn't just mention their competition but openly mocks them. Even Sega didn't do that. Atari and Apple did and do, but MS and Nintendo always keep it classy.

It seems kind of odd to insult your own artist in order to get a dig in at the competition. It would be like someone at Microsoft saying "Yeah their project failed because they used Microsoft Project to manage it."

I know he was just making a joke but I wouldn't be surprised if their PR department rolled their eyes after reading it.

doubt it.... most live performance get 0 revenue to the label... unless he sold the lyrics and his dance move to sony.... he has nothing to give them... and if that helped Sony... tells you how desperate they are.... when you look at it the low point of a competitors media brief is helping you makes it very sad for you imo

You're right, with all their "Blast Processing" Sega Nintendidn't have to take shots at Nintendo.  On another note; all 3 have taken pot shots at each other.  More recently Sony and Nintendo (Reggi) have.

i dont think there very desperate.. they showed GAMES at Sony's E3 ;)

I read somewhere that Microsoft's E3 presentation had more live gamplay demonstrations than Sony's.
