That was sad. So scripted that I want to puke. And ND are officially liars now.

In another demo they showed the press, the same section was played out completely differently.

Of course but that doesn't say it's not scripted.

You could obviously decide to not go inside the room to the right, where that guy with the club is waiting. Had you gone to the left you would have triggered different events from the other enemies and Ellia would have followed you in that direction. But all actions outside the player were scripted, and even some actions the player took were also most likley scripted, such as right after the fight scene when he takes the club guy hostage, that was probably automated as soon as the guy jumoed you.

My bad you already addressed this reply.

A lot of it seems to be unscripted. When Ellie throws the brick (if she sees a weapon in the environment she'll pick it up and help out joel when he's in trouble according to ND), as cinematic as it looks, pretty much every time joel is punching or choking someone the player is in control, it's the same in Uncharted, stuff like using the environment when in melee combat (joel bashing some guy'd head agaisnt furniture for example) is definitely uncripted, you can do that in Uncharted when in full control.  When joel holds a dude a gun point it seems unscripted, it looks like an option in combat, like how in Gears you can get human shields.

Maybe that last bit was scripted, but I'm not sure.

According to every preview I've read, that sequence is unscripted. The way the dev is playing it has clearly been rehearsed though.

Lets see if I can remember...

  • "No way Uncharted 2 will look that good"
  • "LBP will not be innovative nor unique"
  • "God of War III can't possibly look that good in-game"

I could go on, but it would be overkill.

Bottom line, pay attention to what the pros have been saying, so you won't have any explaining to do when this game launches.

Forgot about Killzone 2 trailer lol

I'm debating on whether it's worth debating with you on whether it's worth the time for you debating on if you should debate on the topic.

Watch the demo and seriously try to tell the differences. There are barely any and if I hadnt watched the E3 one 20 times and noticed the HUD, I wouldnt be able to tell them apart as in how the player was playing.

Ofcourse when you move the way he does, you CAN enforce the same situation. But the fact that you can skip that whole area all-together if you bother to explore a liiittle and look for a ladder, or not stand up and get caught after the sleeper hold -> jizz. Imagine if Joel when he was in the room being flanked, had gone out and shot the first guy, thinking that the other is probably hiding. The second AI would have to act upon this. The player chose to go exactly where he went and tried to trigger what the AI was doing by eg purposely missing shots, allowing himself to be flanked, standing in the middle just to get caught etc.

After all the previews, im not worried :D Im fucking stoked!

Bottom line, pay attention to what the pros have been saying. That way, you won't have to post on my wall about how wrong you were (again, the culprits are present and know who they are).

MGS4 is coming to the 360

Just look at the timing of stuff going on in that demo. It gives hints on what is scripted and how it works.

They can easily scatter around pre-planned objects with triggers near them for Ellie to throw stuff. But that's not AI. Ellie doesn't see anything. It's not AI like say the enemies in Crysis.

When Joel fights, you see sequences that play out exactly the same. Yes, you can decide to initiate a melee attack but after that you lose control until the scene plays out. When Joel was jumped by that club guy this happened:

Joel evades, gives 4 punches and grabs the guy for a strangle hold. In both demos that 7 second sequence was identical. The video cuts right after so it's hard to say if Joel automatically starts to point the gun at him or if that sequence is initiated by the player. If it's automatic then the automated sequence would be even longer than 7 seconds.

Enemy behaviour. They don't actually hear anything, they don't see almost anything, they don't start moving and searching in response to what they sense (like enemies do in Crysis). They have pre-set movements and animations that are simply triggered by certain invisible lines that Joel crosses.

In fairness, many PS3 fans said FFXIII wouldn't ever be on the 360.

But.. but..!.. ... Metal.. Gear?

Ehh im not convinced yet they should have done it differently in my opinion if it wasn't scripted.

Like mentioned above..multiple media outlets have already played the same level differently. There is no reason to doubt at all.

I've come to the conclusion that The Last Of Us will be one of those games that will honestly shock the industry. For as much praise as it gets, it still has its share of doubters and no amount of proof seems to silence it.

Read through my 3EYOND The Last Of Us Thread. So many outlets have crushed the doubt long ago. Guess they aren't screaming loud enough!

I understand what you guys mean and all, but i'd rather see something for myself before I go all ga ga over someone telling me theres alll these possibilities. I have a lot of respect for naughty dog and im sure they can do what is claimed. But i'm not gonna fully take these media outlets words as fact  without visual proof. So until then all I see is an awesome sequence done the same way on more than one occasion.  Make no mistake i really wan't this game everything so far is well done.
