Got it via GAF

@kmartnintendork Lack of any Wii titles? Maybe. When you sell 70% fewer Wii units as compared to last May, there's something afoot.

So for the month of may 2011 the 3DS brought in 24.1 million dollars in revenue with no price cut and really no games.

The month of may 2012, with a lower price (40%), 2 main line mario games, 3rd party out the ass, a peripheral, hardware revenue dropped to 19.8 million dollars, selling only about 20k more units

That's truly scary.

I think 3ds did well, even the platform header x360 saw a huge drop compared to last year and last month.
Most of the 3ds big games are going to be released after june(kingdom hearts, luigi 's mansion, animal crossing....)so the boost is pretty huge.

Time for the holiday season, yikes!

(And effing new consoles)

Is that a napkin calculation or do you have a link? It strikes me as correct off the top of my head but I haven't seen those numbers anywhere.

I think it's fairly conceivable that 3DS does only 1/2 to 2/3 what DS did in the West (DS is at 120m in the West), and 75-85% of what it did in Japan (DS is at 33m in Japan). That'd be 72m West / 28m Japan roughly.

Just taking the MSRP of the 3DS during the two time periods in the US and multiplying by the NPD number
