This was often untrue in Skyward Sword, actually

"Sometimes" would be the better word, because "often" implies a majority.

No, it does not.

Don't lie to me. It goes something like this:

Never, seldom, sometimes, often, always.

There are more words you could add, but "often" is towards the higher end of the spectrum.

I'm not going to have this topic go in that direction just because you feel like using bilateral symmetry to create the impression of a gradient that isn't there.

"Often" may often mean "majority", but it often may not. Do you see?

Just as Skyward Sword bosses usually involved the item, but often did not.

Well actions speak louder then words. So lets see how the games turn out.

The one thing I am still not sure about myself is NintendoLand. Is it there for this reason, straight to the point simple and fun? or subliminal advertising of Nintendo's franchises?

To me it will either be brilliant or a failure to a new gamer coming in. If used correctly, assuming the 12 mini worlds are true andeach representing a core Nintendo franchise character, it can be a good way to promote to new people (and casuals I guess) the Nintendo's franchises, which hopefully will lead to better sales fo zelda, metroid, starfox etc..

Yes, let's make this short. On two occasions the SS bosses didn't involve the dungeon item, but that's probably because it would have resulted in ridiculous boss fights.

No, this was a discussion about "often", and that's over.

I'm dragging this back on topic.

I can think of a few games that really exemplify how action games should throw a person into the deep end. On Nintendo's side, the Mario games always do this, in 2D or 3D. Only one I can think of that screwed this up was Sunshine, and it suffered terribly.

Resident Evil 4 did this better than pretty much anyone. I'd kind of enjoy a Zelda game that opened similarly

I don't mind having my balls held, but seriously Nintendo needs to stop holding our hands and finally give us the old school difficulty. No mercy. On that note, Nintendo's never been all that great at story telling. Focus on gameplay. That's why the Zelda of late hasn't been up to par because they got caught up in some fanboys' Zelda timeline. The release of official Zelda timeline shows how much little thought they put on it, and it seemed like they were obligated to prove to fanboys there actually is a timeline.
Most of Nintendo's evergreen titles have no depth to their stories.

In addition, venture into genres and territories they haven't completely explored yet; that'll be the true testament of their skills more than anything. It'll show flexibility and they can, in fact, conquer the gaming industry. This will show that not only do they cater to the blue ocean but actually care about the core gamers as well.
FPS as Miyamoto hinted is a start but I'm afraid it may turn out to be Mario Sunshine in First Person.

With this, they now have the chance to do this with the Wii U. Revive old IPs and create new IPs

Writing this got me hungry again, for some odd reason. I'll have me some baozi

Although DKCR had a similar option like NSMBW, the difficulty near the end of the game was harsh imo lol.

What happened with Zelda, was pretty much Nintendo testing the waters of how they should take the Zelda series in the future (that and the release of OoT3D).

They seriously need to revive the older IPs though and put more effort in them, they've got alot of popular franchises, just because they dont sell like hotcake titles such as Pokemon and Mario, doesnt mean they wont sell at all.

DCKR actually did give some trouble. I kinda agree with you in a sense that Skyward Sword is practically a filler. And, well, I'm sure we all agree that we all love our balls held.

It's always possible, though I wouldn't be willing ot put money on it

Except 3D Land is really tough in a few places and holds to these principles, so, who knows?

really?? I thought that was the easiest Mario i have played in years, maybe ever. THe only levels remotely hard are teh Bowser ones

What this game does is that it gives the a false impression of its simplicity, and with its 3D deceiving you in misjudging the placement of Mario in that environment. It took me that realization to fully regard its legitimacy as a core game, really. My fault in that assessment, I guess.

Dat poll. Perfect.

@Nintendo: Throw me in the middle of a vast field to explore it looking for dungeons, upgrades, items and dungeons while I encounter enemies that represents a real threat for my quest,

I think I've said this before in another thread, but making tutorials completely optional would be great. Especially if they're made into fun minigames.

Speaking of tutorials, I remember the horrid explanation again and again when I had to do that mini game near the end of Skyward Sword to get that special technique for my bird o.o.

Wish there was a way to skip that ;x.

I didn't have a single issue with that, but when I first "learned" how to play that goddamn harp, I almost died in real life. It took me literally 34 minutes to pass that single song because my controller kept flipping out. I tried all sorts of waving motions with all sorts of different speeds, and I could just NOT get it to work. I literally almost threw my special gold remote at the TV (throwing a controller is something I've never done before (still haven't!)). That's how upset I was.

Oddly after that it worked almost flawlessly in all future attempts. I feel as though the game was trolling me.

Skyward Sword had one of the fastest intro and more streamlined linear Zelda game in my memory

I'll tell you what I think when I actually see the games. I'm trying to be optimistic, but the proof is in the pudding or something like that.
