No, this was a discussion about "often", and that's over.
I'm dragging this back on topic.
I can think of a few games that really exemplify how action games should throw a person into the deep end. On Nintendo's side, the Mario games always do this, in 2D or 3D. Only one I can think of that screwed this up was Sunshine, and it suffered terribly.
Resident Evil 4 did this better than pretty much anyone. I'd kind of enjoy a Zelda game that opened similarly
