Forums - Nintendo - Wii U to launch at £280? ShopTo preorder.

So I've been browsing ShopTo for some games to buy, and noticed this on the main page, it's a preorder for the Wii U, it's going to release in both black and white at launch apparently...

Is this just a placeholder price for preorders or do you guys think this will be the actual RRP?

I think that price would make sense for a launch price.

That sounds reasonable, but would also definitely be a "pleasant surprise"

350 dollars. I was hoping for 300 but I thought that was maybe too low. 350 seems okay, once i realize that it comes with a gamepad. I wasn't gonna get it at launch anyway, but i don't know how many casual gamers would pay that much for it.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I hope for $350 but I believe it will be $300.

Why would you hope for more...?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Nintendo found some way to keep the costs low. I could see it being at least 280$. (Afterall, the 3DS is and odd number for a Console price, it's 169.99$.)

I want all next gen consoles to be as expensive as possible, to allow as powerful hardware as possible.

If Wii U is $350 chances increase thhatf PS4 and X360 cost beyond $400.

Why? That would be the stupidest thing the companies could do. Making it that much would mean it would barely sell.

X360 launched at $400 and with inflation that could mean $450 in 2013. PS3 launched at $600 and still managed to be a viable platform in the long run.

My dream is that both X720 and PS4 will cost $500 at launch (I expect $400 for both though). That would mean very powerful hardware.

And perhaps even better, it would mean that the casual market was locked out.

I'm sorry, but I just can't grasp your ideals here. They make no sense to me. I guess that is the end of our conversation.

Never going to happen.  There's simply to much money there. Money which the VG industry desperatly needs.
