Forums - Gaming - What if a company made a video game console costing $1000 (READ OP FOR THE REST OF THE QUESTION)

Ok hear me out.

What if a company, whether it's Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo/Google/Apple whatever came out with a video game console, with graphics better then anything out there, and a new innovative style of gameplay that everyone liked and had all the games you would ever want and costed $1000 for the console itself. Now what if that company offered a monthly plan of like $50 or $100 a month until that $1000 is payed off (with interest of course). Would you be tempted to buy that console?

What would your thoughts be on paying monthly JUST UNTIL YOU PAY OFF THE CONSOLE. Because paying monthly forever on a video game console would be the biggest fail known to man.

If the value of the console was worth the subscription, and I couldn't afford to pay the $1000 in one go, I might be tempted to enter in the subscription.

You mean like the Xbox 360?

I probably would not get it. 1k is too much for just a games machine. Even if spread out over time. I would rather have a cheaper console and be able to buy a new one in 3-5 years.

I'd wait for a price drop.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

No chance, I couldn't justify spending that amount on a console.

all the games i could ever want? with the services I want? Maybe...
you see, if it has all the games i want it would give me PSN+ style free games that i want monthly, then have games that seem to never come out like star wars batlefront 3.

$1000 is a lot of money though. I would probably want the system but not afford it.
then again, its as simple as getting a job while I am at college.

Oops. I came into this thread thinking you said $100. No way would I spend that much on a device that just does gaming. A thousand dollar pc people can live with because it has so many other possible uses. Unless this system can run autoCAD, have word processing, allow programming, and be upgradable over time, I'd have to pass.

I don't think I would do it, even if it had every game that I would ever want to play - I'd have to pay for those too

The hardware box would be huge, hot and noisy considering what would have to be in it to justify that price.

Not really something you are going to put by your TV set.

A considerable amount of the console market demographic would find it unattractive to purchase compared to its' smaller, more ergonomic competitors.
