Forums - Gaming - Sony – our competitors “are losing the plot” with gamers

Even Sony was losing touch with gamers the past few years. They were pushing 3D SO HARD but no one cared...
This year at E3 they didn't even mention it. Looks like they finally get the message. "We don't care about 3D"

For a pure gamer, PS3 is definitely receiving the best support in terms of new IP and those multiplats.

360 has it beat in multi-media and digital though.(Minecraft is already at 2million sold)

Ignore all that, what I love about Sony, is that third party actually care for localization, even horrible games...not saying it is Nintendo or Microsoft fault for third party localization....however now I flip the coin.....that is also the biggest annoyance of the original PSP (a lot of titles did not make it over and will not).

Am I the only one enjoys uncharted only for how well it tells the story? Lol

Same here.

I think Unchared is really lacking in gameplay. This looks to be fixed with The Last of Us though.

I thought the platforming is the best of this generation.

i said something like that with usher/dance central and jk rowling/wonderbook. i saw only one report on german tv about e3 and what did they show? usher and dance central, smart glass and the wii u. that's why i  understand sony and microsoft if they show something like that. they don't need the conference for their hardcore games, they could even make the whole conference only with wonderbook, dance central and sports whatever because we, the fans, will read about the e3 in gaming forums and on gaming sites. it would be enough to show "the real games" on the floor to ign and gamespot.

Well there you go someone else did make the point first lol. Great minds and all that.

But yea I think it's a valid point. Core gamers really don't need E3 and more and more we get big announcements outside of it. It could actually be a good thing for the industry to try and push the wider appeal stuff at E3 and try to expand the market. Because to me I don't really mind if God Of War, Halo and Mario are announced at E3 or before that or whenever. I will know they are coming anyway.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

From an E3 perspective, the OP makes sense - Sony delivered a presentation based on gaming, Nintendo's was a mix of gaming and social features and Microsoft's was mostly other 'features' with a bit of gaming in there.

And to be honest, this is just the Sony way of doing things. They've pretty much always insulted the competition at every single opportunity they've had - doesn't make them right, but at least it makes them consistent.

I like that Sony deliver such a diverse gaming experience. Neither of the other consoles offer the same mix of gaming experiences that Sony do - Microsoft and Nintendo both seem to excel in certain areas, while Sony do very well in nearly ever area. As a gamer, that's a much better deal for me. For Sony as a company, it's looking more and more like it's not going to be a viable situation to sustain, which I'm pretty disappointed about. But you can't have everything!

Please read the article. The way it was said, and the question thath was asked has a lot to do with it. Context matters. Don't just read the title and then comment.
It wasn't an insult, in fact I think most people would agree that its the truth.

Well that might be because of poor localization of the actual Anime....

I'm still amongst the living Ace,lol.

You're also spot on, with my biggest preference overall being good storytelling and my favorite gaming companies are Sony and nintendo.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

If this whole thing is them saying that they have been the best this E3 then I'm not surprised...

Sony wasn't the "Knight in Shining Armour" this E3. I don't know why they would try to say they are. However, almost anything is better than Usher, and Usher wasn't at Sony's E3 Conference.

This.

i wonder, and this for some years now, why sony always has to talk about the competition. i don't see microsoft talking a lot about sony or nintendo talking about sony.

Ummm. Trying to work out if you have a short memory, just totally illusive to what goes on around you or are aged 1 or under.

Anway I think MS did ok and for once Sony should just shut up.
